    Bad Experiences Tarnish OK Job

2 Nov 2020 - Customer Advisor in Edinburgh, Scotland, Scotland

    Pros

Made a lot of friends, free sky TV and some other perks

    Cons

Internal promotions dont go to best experienced (I was rejected because they thought I'd be bored), they instead go to people who are chummy with the recruiters. Sky elevate the mantra - the customer is always right - to new and extreme levels at times. Even with call recordings, false accusations are substantiated because you made the customer 'believe thats what happened' when it didnt. The contact centre is like a playground at times. Gossip gets round these grown adults FAST. Customers can be the worst for something that is non-essential - see previous comment.

    Hard work but good company

    Pros

Company really cares about its employees - great benefits, lots of opportunities to get involved in working groups outside of core role, and accommodating to personal circumstances. Wide engagement across multiple teams. Friendly workforce who genuinely seem to love what they do. Fast paced environment (in both good and bad ways) with plenty of scope for personal and professional development.

    Cons

Can feel a bit overly pro-Sky - for some it is their life and negative emotions are not always well received.

    Pros

degree of flexibility perks people engagement activities

    Cons

unatainable targets backward management hypocritical practices in terms of green credentials ( they started the ocean rescue but the amount of waste of paper in the contact centre is astronomical) unfair treatment of staff (in order to avoid paying redundancies they "manage" people out of the business by setting them up to fail) they don't actually give a hoot about the customer all they do is for the sake of profit not enough opportunities for working mothers hence the gender pay gap
