Disappointing Leadership and a Declining Culture

Pros

Some great people still remain in the business who genuinely care about their work and each other.

Cons

Leadership has been consistently disappointing. There’s a clear lack of direction and an inability to make decisions that benefit both the staff and the long-term profitability of the company. For years, employees have been strung along with empty promises and constant changes in direction, none of which seem to stick or deliver results. Good people are let go or pushed out, while poor decisions keep being made without accountability. The culture has steadily declined over the last four years, and what was once a collaborative environment has now become toxic. Reports of bullying and unacceptable behaviour have been swept under the rug or dismissed altogether, even when brought to the attention of the CEO. Morale is extremely low, and it’s clear that staff wellbeing is no longer a priority.

Fun to work at but relies on fading glory

Pros

- Great social events (almost too many), alcohol fuelled friday lunches - Friday afternoon personal innovation time - Everyone in it together ... - Work with some new technologies - AWS cloud stuff - New dev shakeup seems to actually have worked and now can innovate - Nice working environment - Great location

Cons

- Full focus on mobile app (for 4 years) that still isn't selling - Ignoring the old legacy networks that are the only things making money - Old legacy telco stuff is naturally dying off across the industry - Ignoring some new technologies that could help like docker, etc - Unreliable old owner that will back something then change his mind in a month without remembering - Owner is streamlining the company with multiple redundancies - maybe in order to sell? - CTO is new to the company and if it's not in the cloud then it's dead - Don't fill in the supposedly anonymous surveys - they are tagged by small department and can identify people - Not enough toilets
