I have been working at Société Générale full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

      They look after their employees

      Cons

Its very bureaucratic, technology platform is a little dated and slow, many processes remain manual due to weak technology

      Advice to Management

Review and cut down on processes to become leaner and more competitive. Improve the technology platform

I worked at Société Générale full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

High level of expertise, so learnt a lot. Generally speaking a nice enough office environment to work in.

      Cons

An inability to change - processes barely changed in the years I was there despite a radical reshaping of the team and the evolution of the industry. Weak management who were slow to adapt.

I have been working at Société Générale full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Wide exposure as relatively small teams. Good place to start career or learn things. Can be flexible depending on the department you work in. Exposure to very senior people. High responsibility given at an early stage if you prove yourself.

      Cons

Salary not competitive especially the longer you stay there. Very French dominant so if you don't speak the language it can be difficult to fit in or gain promotion especially if the role heavily involves interacting with the group office.

      Advice to Management

Pay skilled and proven people better in order to keep experience and talent. A lot of experience has left in my time there as SG is unwilling to pay people what they deserve.

I worked at Société Générale full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Full education on some of the most complex structures in the market

      Cons

      * Only does a few things for a select group of clients * Still no little understanding of long term senior client relationships that American, Swiss and German banks have mastered. * Massive glass ceiling if 1) you're not French 2) don't speak French 3) didn't graduate top in your class from a grand ecole.

      Advice to Management

Don't be so French. You're driving the bank into the ground with your myopia and hubris. Ferrari from the outside, Lada on the inside.
