I worked at SolarCity full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere and work environment. I had a great feeling of accomplishment while helping families with their solar needs.

    Cons

Once the company merged with Tesla, the Roseville location was closed and moved to Las Vegas; eliminating 150+ jobs.

I worked at SolarCity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great coworkers. Fun environment. decent pay and benefits.

    Cons

unrealistic sales goals that would change randomly every month. Constant change mostly for the worst. Management had no realistic sales experience and expect you to keep up with their fantasy. A lot of firing based on monthly performance rather than what one did for company over time.

    Advice to Management

Set realistic goals and keep consistent.

I have been working at SolarCity full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent work environment and amenities Entry level sales job

    Cons

-No 401k match -Unrealistic quotas and forecasting(How do you have the same goals every month in this industry?) -Being lied to about compensation and installations can be delayed. -Trainers/Managers can be condescending. Some of them have no experience outside of here and they get intimidated by anyone with a good work history.

    Advice to Management

Lose the " We are the special forces and only bring in the best mentality" So you demand the best ,but only pay out around 40k if the salesperson is even around to see the install finish? Drop the scripts and let sales people be sales people. How are you going to criticize new hires in front of everyone for not memorizing a script in less than a week? There are a lot of archaic tactics and procedures in place and I...

I worked at SolarCity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Your co-workers. They were all great people and easy to relate with.

    Cons

Where to start. First of all PAY. $11 an hour and jobs that take 3 months to see the commission on. Too many chiefs not enough Indians. People promoted into management and have no track record of good clean sales. Management also put a veil over the eyes of the employees, promising changes in pay and comp structure, saying it will eventually come, but it never did. Continuously changing the metrics of what expected of...

I have been working at SolarCity full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good culture, flavored soda machine. Fellow employees.

    Cons

    The Management, the sales structure.

    Advice to Management

Change how you que calls for your agents. If your attrition rate is so high, there is a problem. I can understand making a goal of 5 sales a month, but if you take people out of the que and they can't get calls, they can't achieve that goal.

I worked at SolarCity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great work environment if you are young, potential to earn a decent amount of money, feels like meanigful work and solar is definitely benefiting the planet. Good brand recognition also

    Cons

Long hours are expected most of the time, almost a greek life feel to the office environment. This is not a job for you if you are older, lots of kids right out of school and a lot of drama. High stress from ridiculous quotas. HUGE TURNOVER rate. Average rate is less than a year. Many people quit or are fired. Lower level management seems clueless sometimes and micromanages everything. Overall there are high highs and...

I worked at SolarCity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Hmm, with all the broken promises it's hard to find a pro. A good amount of my co-workers were nice... and free soda and snacks... Yep, that's about it.

    Cons

During my interview a six figure salary, great benefits, and more was promised... Sadly, the way thy run things makes it almost impossible to perform. When it comes down to it, SolarCity barely pays a livable wage, and it's commission plan is a joke.

    Advice to Management

Give employees a livable wage, structure a fair commission plan, and really look into your leadership.

I have been working at SolarCity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people are nice, and the culture is fun. The environment is fairly lax. You can treat it like your own business, but it is still very challenging to get customers on board.

    Cons

Unreasonable salary expectations. There are thousands of competitors, most of which offer a cheaper product. It takes months for you to receive commission and the customer can cancel at any time prior to installation.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your workforce
