I worked at SolarCity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun environment, good people, easy job.

    Cons

Management sometimes didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. Office is now closing down and although they always said it wasn't happening like that, downsizing effected a lot of people.

    Advice to Management

    Good luck in the future!

I have been working at SolarCity full-time

    Pros

The company is great. There is huge potential to move up, where you quickly make very good money, the commissions and base salary are fair, and the CEO is literally the guy who is going to take us to Mars one day

    Cons

The entry level position can be really grueling sometimes. You are talking to 150 people a day about solar energy, and 96% of them will tell you some version of no. An ego is going to drive you at first, but the no's will wear you down. You need to be emotionally stable and able to take rejection if you go for this job.

    Advice to Management

None really. They do a great job inspiring you and keeping you going. It's a great company!

I have been working at SolarCity full-time

    Pros

Great colleagues. Inspiring company to work for.

    Cons

Workalike balance. Inefficient operations and backend processes.

    Advice to Management

Fix operational inefficiences. Too many departments and handoffs to get things done and fix issues.

I have been working at SolarCity full-time

    Pros

I am passionate about our mission and feel I am doing good every day,

    Cons

This is an operations company, not a professional sales organization. I have been a part of Fortune 100 sales organizations, and this felt like I was a Cutco salesperson with a meager base salary.

They offered me their Field Energy Consultant position after our entire division was eliminated and we were given a deadline to accept the positions offered or a severance. Once I agreed and the deadline passed, they drastically lowered my commission structure and base salary to a non-livable amount without ANY kind of notice or explanation. I literally just noticed the amount was lower in my bank account.

Commissions for a LOT of work run around $240-604. Seriously?! The opportunity to be successful just does not seem to be there. There are a few exceptions that they tout, but even very smart and capable sales professionals are having difficulty succeeding. I have never gotten the sense that they do not care about individuals.

Training was incredibly intense and I easily worked 70+ hours for required work outside of class and was only paid for 40. They also never reimburse you for out of pocket expenses for training, required travel, etc.

I worked at SolarCity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Friendly colleagues
    - Nice location (Las Vegas)
    - Working for a clean and sustainable future.

    Cons

    - Pay is now horrible ever since bonus was removed. It is now $12/hr. The industry average for this position is over $20/hr. This department is severely underpaid.
    - Management is very inexperienced. There are no true leaders, and the workers are underappreciated.
    - No growth unless you are a Blonde Caucasian women. Management is sexist.

    Advice to Management

Do the right thing. You know your workers are underpaid and underappreciated. Speak up because people lives are at risk.

I worked at SolarCity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They were very fair in terms of compensation, great company support for my customers.

    Cons

Culture on the team was fake bro love, way too much hype, not nearly enough training, especially on the product we were selling. Tesla hopefully reigned all of that in but we'll see how the company grows.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire "professional" sales people; they do just as much harm as good, and they are anything but professional.
All the low hanging fruit is gone, innovate your way forward to meet new and still skeptical customers.
