I worked at SolarCity full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great atmosphere and work environment. I had a great feeling of accomplishment while helping families with their solar needs.

    Cons

Once the company merged with Tesla, the Roseville location was closed and moved to Las Vegas; eliminating 150+ jobs.

I worked at SolarCity full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I really enjoyed working with most of the people at SC. The company did a lot to reward employees, and the compensation was not too bad.

    Cons

I would say that the only cons were that the work hours were quite long, and it was a bit scary going to stranger's homes during the late evening hours.

    Advice to Management

Improve upon the talent management system, as it seemed that great employees were passed over for promotions.

I worked at SolarCity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Loved the flexibility which faded very fast. Depending on your manager you could face micro managing.

    Cons

Poor management upkeep. Unequal values within the company

    Advice to Management

Learn to value people by their skill set and content of character

I worked at SolarCity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great coworkers. Fun environment. decent pay and benefits.

    Cons

unrealistic sales goals that would change randomly every month. Constant change mostly for the worst. Management had no realistic sales experience and expect you to keep up with their fantasy. A lot of firing based on monthly performance rather than what one did for company over time.

    Advice to Management

Set realistic goals and keep consistent.

I have been working at SolarCity full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Decent work environment and amenities Entry level sales job

    Cons

-No 401k match -Unrealistic quotas and forecasting(How do you have the same goals every month in this industry?) -Being lied to about compensation and installations can be delayed. -Trainers/Managers can be condescending. Some of them have no experience outside of here and they get intimidated by anyone with a good work history.

    Advice to Management

Lose the " We are the special forces and only bring in the best mentality" So you demand the best ,but only pay out around 40k if the salesperson is even around to see the install finish? Drop the scripts and let sales people be sales people. How are you going to criticize new hires in front of everyone for not memorizing a script in less than a week? There are a lot of archaic tactics and procedures in place and I wouldn't reccomend this unless you are desperate for an entry level job.

I worked at SolarCity full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Doing good for the community and what not.

    Cons

Charge more for the product. Use cheaper product than everyone else. Still can't make a profit. Why? So many managers making too much money. Very much a cult like atmosphere. Think Wolf of Wall Street meets Heaven's Gate.

    Advice to Management

Reward your revenue generators. Don't overpay your managers.
