I have been working at Sonoma Partners full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place if you are driven and like to stay busy. No micro management and left to learn and get your work done. Benefits are top notch and team is solid across the board. Lots of engaging and interesting clients of all sizes with interesting problems to solve. Seems like there is always something new to work on technology wise.

    Cons

Schedule is up and down some times it's super slow other times it's super busy. Very hard to ramp up new resources quickly when busy time hits. Number of Sr resources are limited as they promote growth from within. It's consulting so you have some good projects and some bad ones and hard to know what you will get. Sometimes you have to roll with it.

    Advice to Management

More long term planning and a strategy to grow if that is the goal. Focus on hiring more Sr resources to be able to effectively capture the bigger clients with very diverse needs. Ensure that there is proper oversight and management attention on all fronts not just when things are super good or super bad. Stick to the work life balance goals in place and don't bend for that one big deal.

I worked at Sonoma Partners full-time

    Pros

Great culture, work/life balance, and learning opportunities. The company promoted employee gatherings and showed concern for employee happiness.

    Cons

It was difficult to become involved in the growth of the company. It felt like you had to be part of the inner circle to have your voice heard. Career growth was also fairly slow.

I have been working at Sonoma Partners full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-People. Plain and simple, everyone here is smart and driven
-Company. Sonoma really treats you like part of the family and you always feel valued
-Sense of purpose. Everything is done for a reason instead of something that just needs to be done. No tedious tasks or wastes of time here
-Communication. Access to upper management is easy and your voice is always heard for both positive and negative feedback.
-Office. Love the casual workplace that allows you to just come in and really focus on the tasks at hand. Also having the flexibility/option to work from home 3 days a week is awesome.

    Cons

This isn't really a "con" and I think this goes for all small companies but this is not a place to be if you just want to glide by and slip under the radar. If you don't enjoy working hard and working as part of a team, Sonoma probably isn't the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Keep being AWESOME! Continue to make your employees feel like they're valued, it makes such a huge difference to be happy at work!

I have been working at Sonoma Partners full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Lots of autonomy in the sales role
    - Highly communicative/collaborative relationship between sales and delivery
    - Community culture in the Chicago office
    - Defined strategies in the market space
    - Transparency from upper-management
    - Location, Location, Location - a block from both Ogilvie and Union Station

    Cons

    - More a matter of preference, but a good FYI. Employees are asked to come in the office 2 days a week. If you're a WFH exclusive person, maybe that's not for you. If you're a 100% office person, the office will be pretty empty on some days. If you like coming in the office only a couple times to catch up with folks - this is exactly what you want.

    Advice to Management

Continue building off the culture you've generated - it's more important than you may realize!

    Pros

Office culture is fun. Delivery organization is very strong... equates to high customer satisfaction.

    Cons

Very difficult organization to be a remote employee. The organization is not a sales driven organization, but does provide you with many avenues to succeed.

    Advice to Management

Encourage culture even to those who don't work in the offices.

    Pros

    - Projects have wide variety
    - High level of respect from coworkers
    - Flexible schedule
    - Lots of free food and happy hours

    Cons

    - Busy hours sometimes

    Advice to Management

Sonoma has an incredible tight knit community. Not many micromanagers. Casual dress, work from home basically whenever you want. Great place to start a career and get exposure to wide variety of clients and developer tools. Pay is a little lower than average.

I have been working at Sonoma Partners full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

With the ability to have a flexible schedule and work from home 3 days a week, Sonoma Partners is ahead of the curve for employee satisfaction. Bi-weekly company meetings keep everyone informed on how the company is doing as a whole and what projects are coming up.

    Cons

Sonoma Partners is a fast-paced environment that can be stressful if you are not prepared for it. I would also say that the pay could be better based on how much we charge customers.
