I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work life balance, team and co-workers were amazing. Some good benefits, like life insurance, mat pay, insurance, bonus.

    Cons

They don’t like to promote their own staff, rather find new people. Getting a pay-rise is near impossible, higher management was extremely removed from the rest of company. Middle management struggled to give incentives.

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time for more than 3 years

Former Contractor - Project Coordinator in Culver City, CA

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment for more than 5 years

    Pros

It's easier to get your rate and make more money as a contractor. Lots of women doing great things in interesting roles. Working on the lot is exciting and getting outside and walking to different buildings for meetings is nice.

    Cons

They rarely transition their contractors or temp workers over to full time. Many workers would work double time if they thought it would win them points with upper management. A work life balance is great in theory but not actually practiced here. Old institution not really breaking new ground in any arena.

Former Contractor - Software Engineer in Culver City, CA

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment for less than a year

    Pros

Good work-life balance. Not much work pressure or deadline or deliverable as other clients.

    Cons

Only hires on contract. Too many contracting agencies working on a single project create issues within co-workers belonging to different agencies.

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Compensation is ok. 14 days-off per month

    Cons

Management micromanage people, too strict and rigid. They are also very suspicious when you call in sick and influence what you will do during rest days. Colleagues are also very toxic to work with. No career growth and work-life balance.

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Company is still a leader in electronics and technology. Studio’s holdings include vast Columbia library, etc. with lots of rich history. There are a lot of really talented smart people working there and depending on your department and manager, there is good work life balance. Good benefits and other company perks: free screenings, gym, discounts on Sony products etc.

    Cons

The pay is not up to market value smart talented people are leaving left and right to find better opportunities. Departments are very siloed and poor inter-communication leads to many inefficiencies. Departments vary company wide, some with high turnover and constant executive re-shuffling. Others have the same people in management positions for decades creating roadblocks for promotions and raises.

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time

    Pros

I think it is a nice place to work, but it can depend on the department you work in. There are a lot of great people, employee groups you can join, and the benefits are good.

    Cons

    Work-life balance can be difficult
