I have been working at Squiz full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Over the number of years that I've worked at Squiz, I've been shown respect, allowed to work on great complex projects. Since starting, I've been able to move up through the company and I know that my views are always considered.

    Cons

Communication could be better, but saying that they're always trying to fix this difficult problem. Although Squiz is a Global company, there is still a huge Australian influence.

    I worked at Squiz full-time

    Pros

-Amazing people with a good working culture -Friday drinks, games, snacks etc -A decent MacbookPro -Decent travel availability if in the correct role. Offices in London, Edinburgh & Szczecin Standard agency things, most others have better benefits also.

    Cons

-Management doesn't seem to know what they're doing -Career development -Tech stack is quickly becoming outdated and management seem to want to bleed the next 5-10 years out of it while they can. -People will claim that the projects are all different. Sure, they are. But most of them are cookie cutter websites with maybe one or two interesting features -Only a few select accounts with meaningful relationships and...

I worked at Squiz full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Some really nice people

    Cons

Poor management with no people skills. No clear vision or strategy - change who they want to be as a company within in a week. Cliquey management team, with some being micro-managers. No investment in staff or technology. Inexperienced management who applaud themselves for below par projects. It seems acceptable to not do jobs properly as long as they get done. Squiz is trying to promote itself as a 'cool' company...

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to make out that Friday beers and a ping-pong table is a great perk. It's now standard in most offices, especially in tech companies. Make more of an effort with your staff. Bring in managers who have managed people before.

I have been working at Squiz full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Excellent culture. Full of really great people that are a pleasure to hang out with every day. Given plenty of autonomy in how to work Flexible working hours Awesome shoreditch location.

    Cons

Office needs an uprgrade. It’s a bit tatty Leadership isn’t connected to the people on the front line Pay isn’t great.

    Advice to Management

Pay your staff better to avoid losing really good talent. The people are what make Squiz great and they will leave you if you don’t compensate them better. Make HR more professional.

I worked at Squiz full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Nice office, environment and culture - people focused, friendly, supportive colleagues - Good products and tech - Matrix CMS and Funnelback are good products and can give Squiz the edge over other agencies - Some good perks - office beers, flexible working hours, health and wellbeing allowance - Given autonomy to shape the process and methodology on accounts/ projects - use of agile delivery, JIRA, etc. A good...

    Cons

    - The product and tech - it takes a while to learn the ins and outs and you can't easily apply the knowledge elsewhere because its unique to Squiz. Matrix has a really complicated deployment model making deployments uneccesarily difficult on projects - Limited training, mentoring and development - Big/ interesting projects do not come around very often, most of the project is quick turnaround/ BAU - Most of the projects...

I have been working at Squiz full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This business has changed a lot. All that stuff you read on glassdoor about it being terrible in the past? Pretty much true - no sense trying to deny reality. But in the last 12 months, the entire management team has changed, and with it, this business looks completely different to the one I saw before. It is positively charged, and has people in it that you can respect and look up to. While it is early days yet (the...

    Cons

While I think compensation is okay for market (agency, not consultancy), there is a lot to be desired in benefits, and now that there is new management, it needs to make a decision about how it wants to go down that path.

    Advice to Management

The business still has a sour taste in the mouth from past decisions. Your decisions don't need to be big, but they should clearly repay the confidence that the team already has in you. Invest in the right places and the growth will be sustainable.

I have been working at Squiz full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great bunch of friendly and enthusiastic people. A senior management team that has recognised previous issues, has made important changes, and is conscious of the need to listen and act on feedback. Opportunity to learn from some pretty talented people that are happy to share their experiences.

    Cons

None. Feels like a 'managerial emergence' of sorts is happening making it a positive place to work.

    Advice to Management

Previous management issues caused real issues with the UK business in particular. However the changes you've made over the past 6 months have made a huge difference. Keep this on track and don't get complacent.

I have been working at Squiz full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Amazing team. It's no secret that not so long ago there was a high turnover of staff. Although this was tough, we are left with a great team of people who are all invested in the success of the business. - Good career progression with opportunities to try different things that aren't strictly 'your job'. - The senior management has changed for the better. The business was very upfront about the problems in the...

    - Sometimes you still feel the hangover of the bad management and bad implementations that were done before many of the current staff even worked here. It's going to take a long time to fix these problems. - The positive culture changes are usually felt in the more commercial side of the business (sales, marketing, account management), before trickling down to the technical teams. - Many of the poor management...

    Advice to Management

Global management - Leverage the amazing team you have in London if you want to improve the global company. Invest in your internal tools if you want to empower your staff to achieve the ambitious goals you have set for them. London management - keep up the good work but don't become complacent, there is still a long way to go.
