I worked at St. James's Place Wealth Management

    Pros

Good marketing operation and expensive looking brochures.

    Cons

SJP drive a coach & horses through FCA and RDR requirements, using a quasi-commission based "fee" structure. This leads to miss selling and poor practice, which is swept under the carpet as long as the Partner is a profitable business producer. Some Partners earn in excess of £250,000 PA , employ a paraplanner on 30K to do all the hard work, and swan around on the golf course most of the week. Partners often treat... any compliance intervention with contempt, and are supported by the business in doing so.

    Pros

FTSE 100. Guys I worked with were ok. Decent work environment.

    Cons

Staff treat partners like second rate citizens. Not a nice company to work for. Extortionate fees and purely a sales machine mentality.

I have been working at St. James's Place Wealth Management full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fantastic brand and support network. Very strong transition support. Strong investment management approach. Good reputation within financial industry. Ambitious company.

    Cons

Very corporate at times, at times the company can feel a but fragmented with all of head office based in Cirencester.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, great to feel part of a business which is flourishing and doing so well.

I have been working at St. James's Place Wealth Management full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Incredibly friendly culture, brilliant benefits including the Christmas party, pension, BUPA to name a few. Some very exciting departments.

    Cons

There is a lack of management communication at the top which can leave those at the bottom unsure of where they stand. It can be incredibly difficult to work your way up through the ranks on good performance alone due to the banded promotional structure.

    Advice to Management

Listening to the smaller cogs will make the machine work smoother!

I have been working at St. James's Place Wealth Management full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great place to harnest your 'inner-entrepreneur', there is no cap on your earnings & you are helping people with goals/ambitions that are meaningful to them - and how to achieve these, in a realistic and sensible way

    Cons

You have to be prepared to go outside of your comfort zone - you are running your own business. There is so much flexibility and benefits BUT you must hold yourself accountable and think outside of the box

    Advice to Management

    They are simply amazing

I worked at St. James's Place Wealth Management full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Potential to earn good money if you are support staff and varied roles with your allocated Financial Advisor. Can be great benefits.

    Cons

Its an umbrella organisation, so St. James's Place (SJP) sometimes acts as a proxy employer to the support staff of the Financial Advisor and it causes many problems between you and your employer. Sometimes place too much emphasis on achieving targets than maintaining quality.

    Advice to Management

Don't be a proxy employer! Some Partners may not be as big a hitter as the 3+ Partners but the quality of their advice and audit trail is second to none - be proud of it!
