I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Small office environment. Practice phone skills, Learn about a variety of insurance products. Coworkers were easy to work with.

    Cons

You will spend most of your days cold calling former State Farm customers or people on random lists provided to you by the agent. Don't really get exposure to other areas unless you are persistent and ask the agent.

    Advice to Management

Prices are not competitive. People do not want to switch if you do not bundle home and auto.

I worked at State Farm (Less than a year)

    Pros

Gained experience in the insurance industry. Learned the process of acquiring and servicing clients. Friendly and approachable supervisors. Good training in products and business model.

    Cons

Lots of cold calling. Basically read from a script on every phone call. Work can be very repetitive and boring. Possible long periods of time with little success because of how they have you call. Clients can be rude. If sales isn't your thing, this is not a good fit. Also was unpaid.

    Advice to Management

Provide more meaningful work for interns. Take them with you to go see clients once in a while. Don't be afraid to listen to suggestions from employees.

I have been working at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

They were really flexible with my the days and hours I could work and the people were very nice.

    Cons

The people were great but the internship was lacking. When I was told about the position I was under the impression that there would be selling involved with the internship and "real world" experience. I did not do anything except set up appointments and sit in the back of the office doing nothing.

    Advice to Management

Develop a real internship and give the intern more to do than just making appointments….
