Let me start by saying I was there for sveral years, and in the beginning I made good money at a decent company. However, over the years the company has become very mean spirited. I'm sorry I spent so many years there. I now have my own private business and am make more than I ever did at Stickley
Although I wrote about the same business nearly every year, my salary dwindled. Not sure how this was possible as I was (in theory) making the same commission rate every year.
1 week paid vacation up to 10 years. After 10 years paid vacation permanently stays at 2 weeks
Atmosphere of mistrust and lack of respect. Designers are treated like unruly children
The company consistantly looks for ways to dock designer's commissions
During some sale periods commission reduced by a third
Very difficult to make money in high end retail furniture
They state they contribute to 401K, but haven't 3 years in a row
Because of upper management's (Audi family and their pundits at headquarters) attitude toward employees, many showrooms have no managers and are very understaffed
If you want a career in Interior Design, with the internet, and competition from other larger companies, it's nearly impossible to make a living. With the way you're treated at Stickley you'll soon hate your low pay job.
Quick turnover...The majority of new designers at Stickley stay for a short time, realize they don't have a career, and leave.
