    Advice to Management

Realise that the managment team cause most of the drama issues and lie to higher managers about the issues

I worked at Stonegate Pub Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Fun work environment
    -Great music
    -Brilliant training
    -Enjoyed making lovely cocktails

    Cons

-Staff treatment is a mixed bag depending on the manager
-Terrible pay and mediocre tips once all divided
    -Very cramped work space
-You are constantly reminded of how unimportant you are to the company
-Severe trust issues - prepare to be watched a lot your entire time while working there. I didn't think I'd care about that but it's a weird an slightly uncomfortable feeling. They tell you constantly that they're watching you on cctv and check all your bags every time you leave to see whether you've "stolen
stock or not". Seems very OTT as never witnessed anyone stealing anything and definitely reduces staff morale a bit
-No career progression - if that matters to you - I knew one guy who had been there for 3 years and had progressed to supervisor on £9.50 - so don't go looking to become rich here if you're starting from the bottom! Best for students like me where it's just temporary (but obviously don't tell them that you're not planing on staying long when you apply!)

    Advice to Management

Treat staff with respect. Most of us enjoy our job but a constant negative atmosphere given by certain managers is draining and will lead to your better staff members leaving. But keep up the good work with your training, it’s a cut above the rest in this regard!

I worked at Stonegate Pub Company part-time

    Pros

It was a very fun environment and all the staff very easy to get along with, fun to work with and friendly.

    Cons

The bar closed at 4 and we were paid until 4.45, but we had to stay and clean until 5.30 or 6, without extra pay. It was unrealistic that we would ever be able to clean everything in 45 minutes.
I often worked 10pm-6am without a break. We would have staff meetings at 5.30/6am on a Sunday morning, straight after a Saturday night shift. These were compulsory and unpaid, but we got a free alcoholic drink. Many of the staff were between the ages of 18 and 20, and it often felt as though we were at school rather than at work because the management was very patronising.

  10. "Lacks incentives, management support and staff turnover is high."

I have been working at Stonegate Pub Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Potential to be a great venue with a supportive community and returning regulars.
All the parties hosted throughout the year are a good work experience in the events and promotions sector (cabaret shows, charity fundraisers, themed parties and exclusive guest performers).
Being part of Stonegate Pubs Company is a great advantage, with over 700 pubs across the land to explore.
Very laid back atmosphere, management style is family and friends orientated.

    Cons

    Pay not competative enough.
    Lacks staff incentives.
Staff parties every 2 years (with luck)
Staff turnover is bad all across the company.
Two refurbs in past 4 years, still has no staff room.
Training available but not enough management support.

    Advice to Management

    Stop the double standards.
Equal rights for all staff members.
Stop controlling your staff gratuities (4 yrs with no tip option on card payments).
Managers don't often do line cleaning or a proper stock count.
Passing on and cross ringing are standard measures that need to stop.
