I worked at Subsea 7 full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Will throw you in deep end, sink or swim fight or die mentality. Will call you out at any opportunity if you have made any mistakes or errors via email copying everyone in and not working out a plan to prevent said issues happening again, will teach you to have a thick skin and prepare for the worst. Expect to do everything which other more established companies will have duties separated out, which perhaps can pay dividends later on when you do your next role at another company as gives you insight...example, (procurement raising requisitions, approving them, raising subsequent purchase orders then goods receipting them at the same time.) however, bad practice overall.

    Cons

Zero governance, no evidence for compliance, a hierarchy which has a french glass ceiling, therefore if you are not french it cannot speak french, expect your position to become obsolete post Brexit. Management keep all information very close to their chest and is a very closed environment with little team collaboration, sharing of ideas or seeking to develop ideas for improvement from their employees to make it a better place to work. Flexi-working/ working from home a “Myth”
