I have been working at Sungevity full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This is the first time in my life that I've actually looked forward to coming into work each day. From the great benefits, to the downtown location, the people you work for, and the culture, Sungevity has everything.

    Cons

Things are always changing. That being said, I love and crave the craziness. Make sure you know what you're signing up for, because it's not for everyone. We're a growing company and there's huge opportunity here if you can make it work. Since I love coming in every day, it's not an issue. I love being in the middle of a startup company where your opinion matters, and the opportunity is endless.

I worked at Sungevity full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Strong management team, great benefits, stocked kitchen, mission driven and free swag!

    Cons

The company is growing quickly and is sending many California jobs to the Kansas City office. As the company has grown over the past few years pay cuts keep coming and the laid back start up feel is turning to an out of date corporate feel.

I worked at Sungevity full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great company with wonderful perks. They have a wonderful benefits package and they offer all kinds of extras that you would see in the tech sector.

    Cons

It may be nice and Shiney on the outside, but on the inside it's a mess. When you look closer, you see a company with highly overworked individuals. Then add the stress of never knowing when things will drastically change. The company is trying to keep up with a market that is rapidly changing, but every time they make changes without preparation, chaos ensues and the Customer Experience plummets. They claim transparency, but they eliminate whole departments or merge job descriptions without any warning. As an employee, you live in fear of what the fickle nature of what the higher management will do next. It really lowers morale.

I want to thank you for sharing your feedback, and I hear you loud and clear on the pace of change. We do strive for transparency, but while our industry is growing rapidly and starting to displace dirty energy on a large scale, it is still in its early stages and faces multiple challenges from those seeking to undercut solar’s success and growth and from an unstable and confused marketplace. As CEO, I have to assure that our company can sustain these ongoing challenges and guarantee that over the coming years we can truly fulfill our mission. This sometimes leads to difficult changes conducted at a rapid pace, and we deeply appreciate the flexibility and passion so many Sfunsters demonstrate on a daily basis. We hope you can come to understand our position and we sincerely wish you the best in your future endeavors. If you would like to address your concerns directly with either me or our Chief People Officer, please feel free to email either of us directly. Signed, Birchy

Thanks for your sharing point of view. I have an open door policy and invite you to address your concerns directly with me, our Chief People Officer or with your direct leader. I’m sure you don’t find this as an easy thing to do, hence your review here, but it's important that we all work together to make our company and workplace the best we can and I urge you to do you part as mutual accountability is one of our core values. Pay increases and bonuses are not given out arbitrarily, but in a very structured manner based on performance and KPIs. Last year, over 20% of our company were promoted. Although Danny Kennedy has taken on a new day-to-day role outside the company, he is still very active with Sungevity as a key business advisor and shareholder. Again, thank you so much for your comments, and would love to talk with you 1:1 if you'd like. -Birchy
