Pros

Exciting company to be a part of. Sunset owns and operate Bishop Ranch, which is quite impressive and beautiful. The City Center project will be one for the books. Their history in the area is cool to be a part of. The Owners are present and involved in all business decisions. Their office is one of the most pristine and beautiful I've set foot in. Highly organized company. Memos about new personnel sent before they arrive with updated office seating chart map for all. Pretty neat.

Cons

Culture. This company is a very strict 8-5 job requiring business professional attire M-F. Yes, that's right, no casual Friday in the slightest. Their Construction team wears suit and tie. When I was there a Construction Foreman was criticized by the Owner for not wearing a tie often enough (he wore slacks and a button up shirt!). If you aren't dressed nice enough, you will feel like your co-workers are judging you. Everyone hushes up in the Kitchen when the Owners walk through (even though they are quite personable). You're expected to be very quite near Executive offices. PTO policy is lacking. Time off is frowned upon.

Unorganized and manage by panic.

Pros

Family owned beautiful buildings. They have a lot of cool things coming down the pipeline with city center on the way. It will be cool to be a part of that.

Cons

Organizational structure is confusing. Not clearly defined job descriptions. People seem to keep secrets and focus only on their roll. Not much lateral thinking to be found here. They are a construction company and a property management company but have not found a harmonious balance between the two departments. Construction runs the show and property management follows along. There is a culture of manage by panic. The newest emergency is the most important emergency. I would advise staying clear for a while. There is a lot of cultural change that has to happen.
