    Pros

    Flexibility /home working
    supportive and inspring managers
    salary and benefits

Constant change , promotions for those in boys club or chosen few who's face fitted but who mostly didn't deserve it, best staff just kept leaving . After Veritas sale, Symantec seems on deeper decline

    Advice to Management

none really, as they keep changing management and no one listens anyway

I have been working at Symantec full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Symantec sell into a lot of security areas.

    Cons

Because the portfolio is broad there is not the laser focus in every area. We play well in very large enterprise but really struggle in all other areas. In particular Public Sector, Commercial and Enterprise. Renewed investment in these areas now after 4+ years of destroying Public Sector for instance from a $20m biz to less than $4m. Bad man management and respect for salespeople including bullying, win at ALL cost attitude, ridiculous inward facing forecasting regime, people being hauled over the coals for a $5k deal slipping, abusive behaviour on team calls.

    Advice to Management

You are not as important as you think you are. The bullying culture and regimental grip on there staff will come to an end.

I worked at Symantec full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fantastic portfolio. Senior management culture from regional VP fantastic from upwards. Company and corporate vision exemplary.

    Cons

Bullying, untrusting culture. Naive sales management tactics deployed such as mandatory number of meetings, office attendance. Unpleasant environment with unpleasant atmosphere with limited teaming.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should look to create a positive UK management culture.

I worked at Symantec full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some great people and technology. Enjoyed the majority of my time there.

    Cons

Don't let the good SEs go when you keep shaking the tree ... ! Too much management bureaucracy and little trust on many occasions to get a good job completed the right way. Veritas/Symantec split was devastating to the skill and perception of Symantec in the market.

    Advice to Management

Customers like to invest in stable and consistent technology and people. Hopefully this can be maintained through the Bluecoat acquisition.
