RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEOI have been working at Synchrony full-time
Pros
* Tons of opportunities for training and development * Great HR, a lot is invested in people here * Making a concerted effort to re-invent itself as the financial services industry changes * Great company culture * Huge organization and lots of opportunity for movement, both horizontally as well as vertically * Executive leadership is available and friendly
Cons
* Very easy for low value employees to just stick around forever * Tons of process/bureaucracy. It was a GE subsidiary so a lot has been inherited * Things happen, but they take time. Very consensus driven.
Advice to Management
Don't be afraid to change, so many things happen here because 'that's just what we've always done.'

Pros
Great people who go out of their way to help you. Very digitally advanced from a bank standpoint and open to try new things. Operates laterally and very open to feedback and allows everyone to be leaders in their projects. Great benefits and work from home policy. They truly value and trust their employees.
Cons
Could use more structure in terms of multiple team interactions.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you do now.

RecommendsNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI have been working at Synchrony full-time
Pros
1. Decent Pay 2. Good office locations 3. Good office environment and workspaces 4. Decent at offering training and travel opportunities for employees 5. Internal mobility seems pretty good at least for lateral transfers.
Cons
1. Work-life balance is not balanced within the company. A lot of people coast until they can get into a central function because the client-facing jobs (revenue-generating) tend to be stressful. 2. Client-first mentality comes at the expense of Synchrony's employees - as long as client is happy no one cares that you are suffering. 3. Poor leadership, especially with mid-level managers. 4. Poor technology in... analytics and mobile services. 5. Diversity program is irritating, obnoxious, and too much (and having worked in HR that is saying something). 6. Meeting heavy culture where much is discussed but little of it is valuable and worth the time expense.
Show MoreAdvice to Management
Synchrony claims to be innovative but it is not. The technology is poor. Processes are poor. Analytics is poor. There is too much lazy thinking and complacency caused by good times. This company really needs to be put in the fire and have a genuine business crisis. That way they will be refined with the bad junk burned off or they will fail.

"Great Company in US not in India"

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookApproves of CEOI worked at Synchrony full-time for more than 8 years
Pros
With a GE heritage, Synchrony started well. The CEO is amazingly energetic. The focus is always on engagement and leadership in US is very well connected. Carrying on with the same GE culture. Hired highly talented folks at all level during the carve-out. In India, its a great working experience for the Associates who are taking calls.
Cons
It is a different experience altogether to work in its India office though for senior level folks. Kind of political and closed environment. Not much hiring talent from the market at the senior level (may be coz of insecurity). One needs to learn the art of managing perceptions by treating US leadership with 5 star arrangements while they are in India.
Advice to Management
Hire competent talent from the market and break the silo (of CEO and his close associates)
