I worked at Synchrony full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great place to work. Benefits are better than any other company for entry level jobs. Collections goals are easy to achieve on a non-pressure environment. Management will work with you to improve your performance.

    Cons

You need to love the company's take on what a leader represents and embrace their culture by participating in what's called Diversity Networks or Workplace committees and invest your time off work in these volunteer activities if you want to have any chance to grow.

    Advice to Management

Although the company does makes an effort to pinpoint areas of improvement, and is currently working to solve Favouritism "issues", the fact that promotions are given under only ONE set in stone model which consists on STAR method behavioral interviews and the Performance (10%), Image (30%) and Exposure (60%) Chart, most of the value is given to subjective aspects, therefore most of the specialist positions are... taken by the same cookie cutter model employee. Maybe looking back to the methods that made Synchrony the giant it is today and integrating Jack Welch's "Rank and Yank" again to diversify growth in the company would be something to try.

I have been working at Synchrony full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Very flexible with your schedule and what you can do as far as time off goes. Some of the best benefits you will find in a company. Rewarded based on performance, with a bonus sometimes equaling a whole extra paycheck if you’re decent at your job.

    Cons

Stressful dealing with customers who already can’t afford their bills and calling them at inconvenient hours for them. When they hang up or do something beyond your control, it can impact your performance and bonus.

    Advice to Management

Be more understanding of calls that don’t go well and don’t make the employee feel that a bad call day is, in whole, their fault.

I have been working at Synchrony full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The benefits are some of the best on the market and are easy to understand/access. The diversity throughout makes Synchrony a very friendly and comfortable place to work.

    Cons

Opportunities for advancement are not as readily available as advertised and, as with any large company or corporation, competition is fierce. Developmental opportunities have declined as well

I worked at Synchrony full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Possibility of bonus, fun co-workers, spiffs, OT offered often, tuition reimbursement, 401K, adoption assistance, relaxed dress code. Culture was good and SENIOR management/leaders are superb, diversity networks really care.

    Cons

Some of the managers are awful and make you feel like you are a POS even if you are a top performer, metrics can someone be unattainable, even to be considered average. Especially with contacts/hour. For the most part it is entirely out of the employees hands how many contacts they get since the dialer connects the calls. It’d be best to create a metric that is based on call handle time/wrap up instead. Training... is not the best and to be truly successful, you have to be a go-getter with the attitude and desire to learn alone

    Advice to Management

Treat employees as humans. Inspire instead of belittling. Help people when they ask for it. I can’t count the number of times I needed a manager and would walk around the floor looking for someone To help and either no one was available or the ones that were would disregard my problem entirely and not even pretend to care. (Not always but it did happen)

    Pros

    Great pay, benefits, flexible schedule

    Cons

Clients can get on your nerves working st a call center

    Advice to Management

Don't micromanage employees to the point that it affects actual work from having to sit down and talk about things that don't really make a difference in performance stats

I have been working at Synchrony full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good work ambiance . Lots of facilities for employee to relax and refresh themselves if they can spare their time.

    Cons

Personal life is disturbed. Saturday and Sunday offs are not fixed. Leave policy is not flexible. No bunker room or sick room for an employee to take rest if he/she is sick. Though there are facilities for employees to relax and refresh , there is no time , most of the time its work, work , work.

    Advice to Management

Saturday and Sunday fixed off would be a great place to start with. Making a bunker room or sick room available for employees who are not in a position to travel and need rest before starting home due to illness. There are some very good facilities in the campus , but it would be great if you could provide sometime for employees to go through those and relax and refresh. Keep the targets fixed for at least a... quarter before changing them , revising targets on monthly basis stating its a business requirement does not help at all. Please understand the fact that your employee are not machines , if they have completed their assigned work within the stipulated time, let them be free or idle, pushing them to work for more does not help. It makes it very discouraging.
