I worked at Synchrony full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Lots of time off to support the community and diversity activities

    Cons

Favoritism, few training opportunities, small raises.

    Advice to Management

Make training available to more people instead of a select favored few. Provide better merit raises.

I have been working at Synchrony full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

-Involvement in the community is strong (volunteer opportunities) -Ample time-off (you will need it) -Tuition reimbursement

    Cons

On the surface, Synchrony gives off the "Great Place to Work" vibe. However, it is all a facade. They encourage you by giving out free food and throwing departmental parties to distract employees from poor leadership and an unwillingness to change. Decision-making is centralized at the top, which would be fine if Synchrony promoted the right people. However, their agenda is to promote for diversity purposes, the most-qualified...

    Advice to Management

-Hire the right people (entry-level and up) based on qualifications, not solely for diversity purposes -Care more about the employees, not just the customer -Invest in modern technology -Address real problems, don't attempt to distract from them by handing out cookies

I have been working at Synchrony full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits are unbeatable. My healthcare deductible was $800 and even before it was met, my policy paid for most of my care. The pay is decent. They used to do monthly bonuses but that went away at the beginning of 2019. They averaged your 2018 bonuses and added that into your base pay. So instead of making $15.50, my pay bumped to $17.50/hr. Onsite gym, cafeteria, marketplace, break rooms, vending machines, etc. You have...

    Cons

It’s a call center, so the work is very dull and repetitive. You will deal with unhappy customers on a daily basis. As an account manager, part of my job was to take the escalated calls. This is more of my personal experience, but the sick time policy needs to be changed. You get paid for sick days, but there are certain “triggers” (hours) that you hit and that results in corrective action. I get sick a lot, so I...

I have been working at Synchrony full-time (Less than a year)

      Pros

I'm an office manager for a company that Synchrony financial bought, so not technically part of the Synchrony world. We function on our own, they just own us. It's been great working here, tons of perks. The salary is great and the people are nice to work with. I would highly recommend working for Synchrony. Their 401k match and health benefits is really good.

      Cons

I don't really have any cons, I can't complain. I love my job.

      Advice to Management

      Keep doing what you're doing.

I worked at Synchrony full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Lots of opportunity to grow knowledge and meet people.

      Cons

Level 8 and 9 managers of people are not a good position to get stuck in. You're not bonus eligible in most cases like level 10 and up and you're not overtime eligible like level 7 and lower. Most company improvements are geared toward the non-exempts. Way too much responsibility for the pay.

      Advice to Management

Re-evaluate some of the titles/levels of the level 8's and 9's. Some employees at these levels are responsible for more than some level 10's.
