I have been working at Synopsys full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people and their dedication to bring the best technically

    Cons

Company has grown fast from a niche space EDA software company to a high mid-range software conglomerate with a wealth of great products. From a market standpoint this causes stock analyst to compare Synopsys to other software conglomerates which are in broader non-technical space. This is resulting in growing pain changes as Synopsys transitions from a small software company focused on a high level of technical excellence to a company influenced by market analysis and comparisons

I have been working at Synopsys full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good salary, and benefits. Share-based rewards have been really good thanks to great stock performance in recent years.

    Cons

Suffers from outcome bias. Different teams focused on avoiding extra work, rather than working together with different teams, to try and achieve best results for customers.

  9. "Pretty good"

    4.0
Former Employee - Vulnerability Analyst in Belfast, Northern Ireland

    I worked at Synopsys full-time

    Pros

A team of great people and really knowledgeable security engineers, modern facilities, frequent social outings, good perks, great life:work balance, atmosphere, and decent pay. The team felt like a bunch of good friends.

    Cons

The management lets people burn out doing grunt work for too long. Good experience at first, but given enough time people start craving for more challenge and they are not getting it. If you are starting there make a career development plan and carve out your path. Decide what you want to do in the long run, build a solid case as to why they should let you, set boundaries on your time, and make sure you are given time to work towards your goal. Otherwise you'll get stuck on the same level. True, they try to incorporate quite a bit of training and time for skills development but competing priorities ofter come in the way of it. The great security researchers are often underutilised.

I have been working at Synopsys full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay is good and yearly bonus is usually okay. Local office culture is good.

    Cons

Lack of career prospectives (no promotions/salary increases for multiple years running). Lack of interesting/challenging work (lots of long term projects). Attrition rate is high amongst consultants. Work is often overscoped for the time allotted, leading to long hours in order to achieve the 'work order'. Yearly feedback surveys are often ignored and no changes are made.
