I have been working at T J Morris part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexible working patters which, can be useful to fit around other work/commitments such as University like I've done for several years.

    Cons

Its retail so all of the cons that are associated with Retail apply here. However, sometimes can be even worse given its a low priced 'bargain' store.

I have been working at T J Morris part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Some shifts where you are often left to just stack shelves with little interference

    Cons

Management don't do anything and then expect you to push out several cages of junk onto the shelves. They also expect you to come in whenever it suits them, could literally ring 1 hour before they want you in on your day off and if you said no they'd be annoyed.

    I worked at T J Morris part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Friends I had made from part time shift. Skills gained.

    Cons

If you worked an 8 hour shift you wouldn't work, for example, 8-4 straight through. You would work 8-12 then your shift would finish, then another shift would begin at half 12- half 4. This was so they didn't have to pay your break (as told by management themselves). Managers thought they were ALL gods gift and would look down on any questions you were asked. Have to rely on other people to shift swap with you as would not give me my holiday time. If you do something wrong you WILL be shouted at and will be made to feel 2 feet tall all throughout the shift. Rota would change unannounced. They said it would be 2 weeks in advance and I only used to work on weekends. One weekend I turned up for my 8-12 shift and was told my name wasn't on the rota but luckily I had taken a photo of my shifts on the previous weekend but still had no apology. Also an inconvenience as it was a long trip for me to get in as I had no means to travel without a parent being able to transport me which management were aware of and laughed when I told them I was stuck. I was only 16 at the time the full time older staff members would make me do their cages and have a dig if I wasn't completing things at the same time as them (given it was 3 of them and 1 of me - a little bit of an unfair advantage). Also if I had scanned an item and the customer had decided later they didn't want it you had to ask a manager for help and in this store they were either hiding in the canteen or having a cigarette outside.
