    Pros

Good package, reasonable, work and life balance is good.

    Cons

Too much rail oriented company, HQ is based in York, which narrows the diversity of the staff, a lot of bureaucracy

    Advice to Management

Make it more straightforward and simple. Too many overheads doing nothing.

I worked at TSP Projects full-time

      Pros

Good reputation in the marketplace. Excellent track record of high profile projects. Great people on some of the teams. Middle Management/Team Leaders generally very good to work with. Pleasant, modern office environment.

      Cons

Uncertainty over job security. Lack of visible commitment from senior management to staff. HR take little notice of the skill-set of employees who could be better deployed into more appropriate teams, especially when work fluctuates.

      Advice to Management

Try to practice what you preach when it comes to the wellbeing of your staff. Signing campaign pledges is all very well and good but you need to back it up with actions and communicate more effectively with employees. Make them feel like valued assets, rather than disposable commodities who can be out on their ear at any moment, (and without a word of thanks for long, dedicated service to your company).

I have been working at TSP Projects for more than a year

      Pros

After having worked in Retail, Banking and Insurance being here has been a refreshing change from the draconian setup of other employers.Like any workplace there are pressures but I can say confidently that this place has treated me more like human being than anywhere else I have ever worked. As IT support I have the opportunity to interact with almost everyone in the company and would say for the most part the...

      Cons

As mostly Engineers and CAD designers work here there is no official training/ apprenticeships for IT but I do have the freedom to learn about systems myself. The social area is inadequate. Only two people can fit in the tea rooms located on each floor at any time.

      Advice to Management

Don't change anything. Keep being nice to your IT support guys.

I have been working at TSP Projects full-time

      Pros

Good approach to staff, flexible management who reward good workers. Good approach to apprenticeships and encourage further study whilst at work. A very good place to start your career. I feel we are highly respected in the industry and that makes you proud to work here.

      Cons

I have a fear of redundancy in a business where workload can be a bit up and down, that is probably more from previous employment experience in the same sector.

      Advice to Management

Try to push new sectors of business, it's exciting for staff to have new challenges.

      TSP Projects Response

Hi, Thanks for the review and thoughts. Definitely interesting to read as especially given there's the obvious connection between redundancy fears, although as you say that's was in relation to a previous employer, and your advice to diversify. The great news is that we’re on the ...

I have been working at TSP Projects full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

I work in the head office in York where we have a great open, honest and friendly culture. We have excellent collaborative values where even though everyone is busy we all have time to help each other get the job done. TSP get involved in some of the best infrastructure improvement projects in the country and since the recent transition to new ownership I expect the opportunities to get involved in interesting work to...

      Cons

Speaking from the perspective of the department I work for, it feels like everyone else is on a much better financial package and work life balance than our team. Each design discipline has a director in charge of that team which has both positive and negative effects. On a plus side, communication is easy within teams and each person has someone in a senior position looking out for their interests. On the negative side...

      Advice to Management

Three points to make here: 1. While efforts have been made to improve the gender imbalance, there's still not enough females in leadership roles in the company. I know that this is seen as a weakness by the industry and that TSP have a good model for succession planning. 2. The outdated appraisal system needs changing to encourage more staff development and allowing goals to be set and achieved. it should be something...
