I worked at Tata Communications full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I can hardly think of any. The people who are already there, they are trying their best but their frustrations can be seen from day one.

    Cons

Plenty of promises of career progression but they only promote Indian employees and look past other nationalities. Very biased in terms of who they progress, never on merit. It’s all about who you know and not about how good you are and what you know. Even HR don’t do much to sort this out and stay quiet in front of Indian leadership team.
No long term strategy, they hire and fire people on 2 year’s cycles. I’ve seen new people being hired from India to UK office and then redundancies made within 2 months.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and engage with your global employees more. Have a longer term strategy rather than short term tactical fixes. Hiring and firing culture isn’t going to build a sustainable business.

I worked at Tata Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good culture and a great team-working environment. Tata has the right focus on ethical business. Good base salary as you would expect from a challenger.

    Cons

Slow to react to market, Very much a satellite office and not a hugely devolved decision making. Targets are not overly realistic and difficult to attain.

    Advice to Management

More attention to be paid on local experience. A more realistic view of market forces would help build a positive working environment

I have been working at Tata Communications full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good culture. Focusing on transformation and innovation. For a Telecom/Network Service provider, consider them one of the most innovative of the companies out there. Flexible work hours. Focused more on getting things done rather than being in the office from one point to another.

    Cons

This could also be considered a positive but this is a very globally distributed company. You will work with colleagues in all regions and this means work hours can vary significantly.

    Advice to Management

Need to continue to remove legacy processes in order to increase agility and compete against the new entrants in the market. Focus on the new products and solutions already identified are reassuring.

    Cons

struggling with too many processes and time it takes to get things done. Multlple legacy platforms to offer services and solution causing confusion
