I worked at Tata Communications full-time for more than a year

    Pros

As with all companies, there are some good people who are trying to make a difference

    Cons

Unachievable targets, ridiculous bureaucracy, and multiple barriers to actually getting paid anything let alone it be accuracte. Comapny has very high levels if dissatisfaction among its staff and a high turnover rate

    Advice to Management

Implement urgent action to target and reward staff and not simply put a program in place to understand the issues and then not actually do anything.

I worked at Tata Communications full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

People, location, team spirit, customers, and partenrs

    Cons

The worst senior management team I have worked for (ever), business ops team that should be renamed business prevention team, incomplete solutions (still stuck in the 1980's), insufficient resources, and HR team that is asleep at the wheel, the list goes on...

    Advice to Management

Improve morale, cut the dead work, get realistic targets, remove the senior management cliche.

I have been working at Tata Communications full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It's a big company with loads of opportunities

    Cons

As every big company they might re-assign your role centralizing it in India where the workforce costs very little.

    Advice to Management

    Improve your communication within employees.

I have been working at Tata Communications full-time

    Pros

Ethical Company Strong Global Network Good portfolio of digital infrastructure products (UC, SIP Trunking, Managed Security, Media Content platforms) Understand the need to transform from traditional telco provider to digital infrastructure provider.

    Cons

A company trying to be global with an Indian mindset. Too much influence from Product Management and way to much power inside Finance. Too broadstroke in its marketing, needs to develop marketing resources targetting specific markets or products (eg Gaming, Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality, Digital Streaming, Consumer Devices (IoT)).

    Advice to Management

Empower your sales people, they are your eyes and ears in the market place. Stop this nonsense of "we can't tell you how much it costs or what our margin aspirations are - you might run off to a competitor", Let sales negotiate properly with customers rather than be mere "messengers". Understand that ultimately it is sales (not Product) that should own the customer relationship, and this is sacrosanct. Biggest complaint from customers is the time it takes to get anything done in Tata, and these are the reasons why.

I have been working at Tata Communications for more than a year

    Pros

Teams at ground level worked well together to provide excellent customer service

    Cons

Company values look great on paper, but in proof, the company was more concerned about statistics than customer service, mainly due to being top heavy in middle management, so everyone was trying to protect themselves and their role.

    Advice to Management

Restructure middle management, add more employees at ground level, and give more actually deliver the promises to the ground level employees that are shown as their core values

I worked at Tata Communications full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I can hardly think of any. The people who are already there, they are trying their best but their frustrations can be seen from day one.

    Cons

Plenty of promises of career progression but they only promote Indian employees and look past other nationalities. Very biased in terms of who they progress, never on merit. It’s all about who you know and not about how good you are and what you know. Even HR don’t do much to sort this out and stay quiet in front of Indian leadership team. No long term strategy, they hire and fire people on 2 year’s cycles. I’ve seen new people being hired from India to UK office and then redundancies made within 2 months.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and engage with your global employees more. Have a longer term strategy rather than short term tactical fixes. Hiring and firing culture isn’t going to build a sustainable business.

I worked at Tata Communications full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good culture and a great team-working environment. Tata has the right focus on ethical business. Good base salary as you would expect from a challenger.

    Cons

Slow to react to market, Very much a satellite office and not a hugely devolved decision making. Targets are not overly realistic and difficult to attain.

    Advice to Management

More attention to be paid on local experience. A more realistic view of market forces would help build a positive working environment
