I worked at The Body Shop part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The Body Shop is without a doubt the best place I have ever worked. It was fun, engaging, challenging and you where almost always kept busy.Pay is also incredibly generous,as you are paid pretty much the same no matter your age bracket. My colleagues where wonderful people, they became more like family to me during my time with the company -I genuinely miss them after moving on.My manageress was also an incredibly friendly,funny...

    Cons

The only downside of working here,is that you dont get very many hours (unless its peak times, like Christmas).I had to work a second job at the weekend to afford my bills at home.Hours dont increase unless you are promoted to Team Leader. If that isnt an issue for you though,be sure to apply. You wont regret it!

    Advice to Management

Carry on being as wonderful as you are.

I worked at The Body Shop part-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

      - Nice people to work with - 5 items of make up free when you join the company and per year - Training encouraged

      Cons

      - I was on a part time 8 hour a week contract from when I was 16 years old and at school and far too much was expected. All focused on making sales and I felt guilty if we hadn't hit targets.

I worked at The Body Shop

      Pros

      - The Body Shop's ethics are really good (enrich not exploit, no animal testing) - Employee discount - Good products - Good pay (especially for under 18s)

      Cons

      - I was a part-time member of staff on an 8 hour contract, however I was constantly asked to work overtime despite being a full-time student - Staff have to be VERY knowledgeable about the products and there is a lot of pressure to know all of the ingredients, benefits, which person will benefit from each product etc. - Pressure to achieve targets - A lot of time has to...

I worked at The Body Shop part-time for less than a year

      Pros

Good staff perks for discount etc. And the product quality is excellent. The company is also against animal cruelty which is great.

      Cons

You are expected to go above and beyond and you get little to no recognition, the managers spend all their time in the office and you are expected to be free all the time even if your on a part time contract. The job turn over at the store I worked in was huge (alarm bells!) avoid.

      Advice to Management

Treat your staff with some respect and reward them - other wise you will lose hard working employees.

I have been working at The Body Shop

      Pros

'My Perks' which gives you benefits such as life insurance, 'LOVE' money that you can use for gym memberships or a massage or many other things for your wellbeing, upto 60% off L'Oreal and companies owned by L'Oreal, 50% off Body Shop products in store, if you achieve above your monthly sales target you can get upto £40 worth free bonus or 25% pay bonus for managers. In general my colleagues are very supportive and we...

      Cons

There can be too much pressure for individual employees to achieve certain targets such as an 'average transaction value' especially when you have tried everything, some days customers just do not want to spend as much money and you can't force them. Generally is an excellent company to work for but occasionally managers, regional managers etc. can lose touch with what it is like at the bottom of the ladder and they have...

      Advice to Management

Management should not lose touch with what it is like working at the bottom of the ladder and having to achieve certain sales targets consistently without coming across as forceful to customers. There is a lot to remember working at the Body Shop and although employees are generally appreciated and recognised for their work, there are some managers who have lost touch with working on the shop floor.

I worked at The Body Shop part-time

      Pros

You will work with great people and meet friends in your region. The free products and product testers you get are great swell as the staff discount! The in store events are fun and the products are such a good quality and fabulous to work with.

      Cons

Every month for the whole 2 years I was there I was underpaid by a lot of money. I am still owed money and they don't seem to care about underpaying their staff. As pretty much everyone who is part time or not on a yearly salary (management only) is underpaid and it seems the body shop simply don't care. Never an apology and never anyone at head office to talk to.. only your...

      Advice to Management

Sort out your payroll department and don't put staff on an 8 hr contract and expect them to be fully flexible.

      Pros

      - Free trials of new products - Good pay for a part time job while studying - Friendly environment

      Cons

      - High levels of learning to complete about all the products - Not a great staff discount as customers often receive 50% off - Last minute schedule of hours
