I have been working at The LEGO Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Nice office environment. Well located.

Good enough work life balance compared to other places.

    Cons

IT group is lacking maturity of execution despite people with many years of experience. They are stuck in their ways and change is glacial.

Frustrating if you come from a mature IT environment.

Career advancement is painfully slow and seems to be based on time served rather merit or performance.

Compensation is average. Better pay is easily available.

Senior management have the best of intentions but don't know enough about IT to effectively make change.

    Advice to Management

Stop managing by consensus so much and occasionally just dictate the way it's going to be and tell people to make it happen.

Reward performance sooner. You're loosing good people.

    Pros

I love helping costumers in all sorts of ways like bringing them more closer to the technology around them and giving them an idea of what to buy in my view

    Cons

I do not like to see a sad costumer there ever is I will help

    Advice to Management

I am very talkative but that is a good thing you will see me communicating with costumers all the time

    Pros

    I worked in Westfield London.
Great environment. Everybody is really nice and friendly.
    Best managers ever.
Your job is approaching customers which it might seem tricky at the beginning. Specially If you are shy like me. But training is really good and managers helpfuls. After you get used to it you enjoy every single shift there and finish your shift really happy.
    Great staff disscount.
    Best job I've ever had.
    Opportunities for growth

    Cons

    Some shifts could be longer.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing your job like this. You guys are amazing!

I worked at The LEGO Group full-time

    Pros

Great people, exciting projects, making an impact on kids lives, good perks

    Cons

Lack of structure/infrastructure out of date, little guidence from above, lack of efficiency, flat structure with little room for progression

    Advice to Management

Direction of the company at the top is clear but very rarely cascades down into tangiable workable solutions for the employees lower down the infrastructure. Simplification and efficiency were key topics last year but nothing much has changed in regards to the over complicated, inefficient processes that have dogged the company for years.

Opportunities for retail staff to make suggestions which are reviewed and taken into account by Head Office

    Cons

Not a great deal of opportunities to progress at retail level

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at The LEGO Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I can't think of many because my experience was so negative. It's not very nice to work very hard for customers who are very hard to please, just to be unemployed again afterwards. However, they do a lot of things to keep their employees happy, we had a few parties, lots of free Lego, free Merlin passes, some free food items during the day and the training is actually really good

    Cons

This company relies on employees' constant fear of losing their jobs. The targets are very high and you work with very challenging customers and you need to deliver and deliver, so everybody is working very hard to get that contract. But if high season they won't hesitate to send you away (and then perhaps rehire you 4 months later).

    Advice to Management

    Be somewhat nicer.
