I have been working at The Toro Company full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very low stress and you are never pushed to work beyond 8 hrs. Everyone is very nice and most people want to help you. New cafe is nice. Good deals on products. Stable place to work and grow old. Amazing place to work if you are in the right group. The good groups (commercial) rarely have openings.

    Cons

FLEXIBILITY. cant work from home even if you or your kids are sick. Some departments do but engineering is very old fashioned. If there is a blizzard you cant leave early. Very slow growth and no way to grow faster. There are a lot of people that have 30+ years of experience so it simply takes time. Office area is depressing and dark. I have never seen a company so scared to innovate and fear of risk. Little...

    Advice to Management

Ensure your mid level managers are performing. Some are good and others are not. How do you retain younger professionals if you dont trust us to work from home when we are sick. Most companies do... all

I have been working at The Toro Company full-time

      Pros

Great company to work for. They care about their employees and offer competitive pay. Will even pay for employees continued education if the budget allows it.

      Cons

Resources are scarce in some IS departments. Political decisions can sometimes prolong projects.

I have been working at The Toro Company full-time for more than 5 years

        Pros

Team and cross-functional collaboration largely contributes to the success of IS to its stakeholders. Agile methods and principles are slowly being adopted.

        Cons

More work than there are resources. Consequently, prioritizing work-demand is absolutely key and yet challenging because the work comes from multiple business divisions which independently maintain their priorities.

        Advice to Management

Introduce a role that interfaces with each business division and whose main responsibility is to understand their strategies and road maps as well as their customer base. The role would closely report to the CEO and be instrumental in driving the right digital decisions for Toro.

I have been working at The Toro Company full-time for more than 5 years

        Pros

Making a great living, along with all the benefits you'd need.

        Cons

Communication between upper management and laborers. The goal has always been quantity over quality and meeting quota is more important that the wellbeing of its employees.

        Advice to Management

Communication, communication, communication. Talk plans and ideas out with employees on the shop floor, before making big changes. The logistics of an idea may look better on a piece of paper. But in reality, they could be causing more problems than the original system.
