I worked at The University of North Carolina System part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Very flexible with your schedule, you basically choose everything yourself. Management is very supportive and great to all tutors. Training is paid and gives great skills.

    Cons

Pay is pretty low but with opportunity to go up every semester you stay with them. Students expect more of the role but for what you're paid its hard to meet those expectations.

    Advice to Management

Pay your tutors a bit more, especially the ones with good performance reviews.

I have been working at The University of North Carolina System full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Exposure to free courses, beautiful campus, depending on your department there could be more room for advancement if you want it

    Cons

Smug faculty run the operation, endlessly bureaucratic, good luck ever getting a real raise, benefits are not that great because of state legislature, flex time not an option if you don't have children, not much interest in young staff growth

    Advice to Management
