Pros
The Very Group has been an amazing place to work, and I will miss everyone I have met. The management team are so supportive and the flexible way of working is amazing, you get a good work/life balance specially if you have kids. I have nothing bad to say about the work culture or people. You are trusted to do your work and not micromanaged. My reason for leaving was to explore a new career path.
Cons
Like everybody says the pay could be better however, I would still recommend this place as one of the nicest places I have worked, for culture and people, good training and support.

Pros
Got to pick preferred hours to work
Cons
After being there for over 2 years and then taking on a lot of staff. It felt like they were looking for any reason to get rid of the ones who had been there longer. No trust, poor management, pulled up on everything and never praised for the good. Micromanaged feels like your on big brother as they screen record. Every call they expect you to log a complaint even in the customer sighs. If you don’t log complaint then your moaned at for it. They say you have no limit on personal time but then get pulled up if you go over 7 minutes. No support at all if a customer wants to speak to a manager, managers won’t come to the phone they just advise to give GOGW. I found after 2 years the company was an awful place to work for and would NOT recommend VERY as a happy place to work.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and we're sorry to hear you haven't enjoyed your time with us. Our intention is always to retain our people and we offer substantial onboarding and training for every member of the Very team, with great benefits such as access to learning on Udemy, alongside our reward package. We also want our colleagues to be supported and listened to and there are a number of ways for colleagues to raise concerns if they have them, such as our open door policy to managers, regular People Labs, and access to our People team. Our customers are also very important to us and we feel that, if a customer comes to us with a complaint, it's right that we recognise this and try our best to resolve any issues they may have. Your feedback is really helpful and we've shared your concerns with our senior management team for Customer Care so we can make sure we're creating the best possible place to work.

Pros
Wonderful individuals, everyone is incredibly supportive, and I thoroughly enjoy my time working here. The work-life balance is excellent.
Cons
The long tenure of Heads and Directors here can sometimes pose challenges for career advancement. They typically depart through retirement. The company is mandating a return to the office (3x week), and coupled with the absence of year-end bonuses, this may lead to a significant departure of employees in the near future. There's a constrained talent pool in this area. There's a lack of an employee retention program, and the organization tends to take reactive rather than proactive measures in addressing this issue I.e. often relying on counteroffers rather than proactive salary increases or other measures.

Pros
Wonderful people who genuinely care.
Cons
Unfortunately, not everybody I worked with had the same experience. It seems like I got lucky with my team and managers.

Pros
Great people to work with & a real sense of teamwork when things get tough........you''ll never be left to struggle on your own here. Office environment in Speke is great & there is a real buzz when the place is occupied. Flexible working also a great option & enables you to balance work & home life if you want to. Can be fast paced when needs to be & there are always interesting projects to get involved with, if you want to. If you are ambitious & want to develop your technical/hard skills, but also your soft skills, then this can be a great place to build these........but expect to work hard to achieve this. Some great new tech & innovation to work on here these days
Cons
Hierarchy & politics still in evidence in many areas, which makes getting things done & decisions being made difficult at times. Still a tendency to always have to run things by 'the leadership team' for your area before actually doing something or to get the green light.......which will put some people off putting forward ideas. Still a fear of failure in many areas, which stifles innovation and people just trying things out. Tech is improving , but some of the back office processes are very hard to change, with too many decision makers at times to get things done or changed. Tendancy for cliques to emerge in teams/functions, which can lead to perceived favouritism.

- 3.01 Aug 2023Category SpecialistCurrent Employee, more than 3 yearsLiverpool, England
Pros
Most of the people you will encounter are friendly and willing to help The pay is okay but could be better Nice office and facilities Costa & gym onsite Communities to try and make more diverse work place Staff discount
Cons
Processes are insane, slows everything down. Little to no recognition from snr managers which isn't great when so much is expected of you. A bit rigid considering we are supposed to be fast paced retail-tech company. Limited career progression, side steps rather than promotions. Salary bands between colleagues, mid management and senior managers is really big. Don't feel empowered - can be very hierarchical in parts. HQ isn't near the city centre so not many teams socialise after work. Rarely get a bonus. Office wifi doesn't work well so can be very frustrating.
