I have been working at Thornton Tomasetti full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A great bunch of incredibly bright and talented guys and girls who work hard to please their customers
A variety of interesting projects to work on

    Cons

Little respect is given by the management team to junior colleagues
A fairly negative working atmosphere exists from employees who feel they are powerless to influence or suggest improvements

    Advice to Management

Break down the old fashioned chain of command structure and give staff authority to make decisions.
Treat everyone equally and don't have 'Favourites' who receive preferential treatment

I have been working at Thornton Tomasetti full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There's an expert in everything somewhere at Thornton Tomasetti. And everyone is happy and open to share their knowledge and experience.

    Cons

Pieces of Thornton Tomasetti are growing faster than the structure of the company has kept up with.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes you seem like you're managing the company as it was 5 or 10 years ago. I'd recommend managing the company as it is today - which may require talking to some folks to see what we are all up to.

I worked at Thornton Tomasetti full-time

    Pros

As I found it, the corporate structure lends itself to encouraging different offices and practices to not cooperate but rather to compete with each other. As profit goes to shareholders based first on individual, then office and then practice, there is a tendency to push monetary gain over client interest. Bonuses to non-shareholders are entirely discretionary and depend more on relationship or threat to leave than performance.

    Cons

Excellent projects, interesting work, varied exposure. Makes for great experience for those who are interested in furthering their career.

    Advice to Management

    Change the corporate structure.
