I have been working at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Pay is decent, commission is also a nice bonus. - Laid back attitude in the office, but I must admit that this will depend on the people you work with so it's not a Towergate pro per se. - Coffee and tea at your disposal. - Opportunity for further training, various courses or accrediatations you can apply for. The trainers themselves are actually quite nice and helpful people. - Some employees are well intentioned and hard working but continuously under-appreciated, even among the managers. Those people will be your friends and make your life much easier, though. I am struggling to find more pros as the rest are personal and not connected to or due to Towergate.

    Cons

    - The company insists on all customer services values but when it comes down to it all they seem to care about is the money. People who perform on their target are rewarded even if their behaviour is non-compliant while others will be taxed if they perform very well on everything apart from their target. - Management comes off as very unapproachable. Won't give you the time of the day unless your're part of a certain clique. - You will be expected to do unpaid over-time and you are not allowed to try to avoid it. - Very difficult to change illogical or unfair day-to-day procedures or lack of procedure altogether. - Outdated systems and poor IT management. The "new" system keeps getting delayed and the company keeps setting deadlines that clearly will not be met. - Very little room for advancement and little career opportunities, people have actually been discouraged from pursuing a change in position. - Other people have spoken about nepotism, which is true. Also very strange considering there is a high staff turn over. People leave...a lot. - Old or improper office equipment. It's amazing what a chair with proper lumbar support can do to your daily productivity.

I have been working at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Staff really care and do it in spite of systems and support. Dunkirk spirit is massive but will not last much longer!

    Cons

Spend more time spinning problems and papering over cracks than solving issues. Like adding positive glassdoor reviews from marketing rather than solving the challenges employees face, to improve results. HR resource stretched to breaking point and all benefits and salary are regularly mixed up and confused, expecting a correct salary should not be a given. If you have a bonus scheme expect an arm wrestle to get it paid. ...... aways looking for ways to back out, which is disgusting and far from engaging. To the wider world Towergate present a "we care about everyone, customer staff etc ....." they care about the bottom line and that alone.

I have been working at Towergate Insurance

    Pros

Good coffee machines and a great office. Salaries paid on time.

    Cons

Corrupt management. You need to get along with them and dine and wine with them to get promoted. If not that you need to have a fling with them to get a managers job. People work really hard within the new business team to hit targets however you can't find out your bonus till pay day that is after checking your pay slip. They got us to fill out an employee survey to implement changes however management made few people to stand behind us to check if we are writing all nice things about them. There are no set processes either, pretty much depends on your corrupt managers mood if they want to take you into a capability meeting or not. Two managers were recently hired just because one of them is dating a senior manager and the other one is dating another senior employee. It was all kept very quiet and no one else within the company was given a chance to interview. People were informed that these positions have been filled in a presentation which came as a shock to few employees who were looking to progress. Now these managers are relying on the same senior employees to run the team and help people out because these managers have no prior new business or insurance experience. This is Towergate!

I have been working at Towergate Insurance full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Location free tea and coffee and some great staff. Loved the people I worked with but of your face doesn't fit well tough luck.

    Cons

Managers are promoted external not from within. 95% make no commission due to QA that needs to be 100%. Cold calling on a dialer selling insurance wow not what I signed up for.

I have been working at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Office Colleagues are the best you could get I have made many friends here.

    Cons

Towergate staff at the top! nobody cares about the minions who have worked really hard through thick & thin to keep the company going in hard times, especially now they are restructuring the company and moving the small commercial and personal lines to a call centre, staffed with inexperienced people and again with a bad salary!. They expect you to work hard and spread yourself around to cover roles that you do not have training for so you become multi-talented then they slap you with redundancy! They have also dangled a carrot for many years stating how many shares you have and how they are going to float very soon, however after 10 years waiting and to be told that you cant take your shares with you if you are made redundnant seems very unfair to me, however, I now suspect that the shares will be worth nothing with the amount of debt they have!
