I worked at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Friendly office and lots of events like quizzes, bake sales, dress down days & fun office incentives.

    Cons

No opportunities to progress. Starting salary poor and pay rises virtually non-existent even when you have more experience. Hard work is not rewarded. No bonuses. Management very sneaky and self-centered. Some very bullying characters.

    Advice to Management

Reward existing staff with pay rises and promotions

I worked at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some front line staff there are amazing, however, most have had their dreams shattered and are weak versions of themselves. Potential if they invested in staff.

    Cons

They offer poor salaries compared to competitors. No real training is provided just on the job which is sloppy. Everyone is poorly driven which gets you down and is draining. Managers do not care for staff and offer minimal support and tools to be successful. 1% payrise which is insulting. No one to ones go ahead so impossible to improve.

    Advice to Management

Put staff fowward for training courses. Provide constructive feedback. Do your jobs instead of sitting back and keeping your head down. You're more to blame if you do nothing.

I have been working at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Gained experience I wouldn't have gained anywhere else, by getting thrown in at the deep-end. Most of the other employees in my office are a great bunch of people.

    Cons

Complete lack of progression and formal training. A lot is asked of staff but there are no incentives to push for the best results and to hit or exceed targets; bonuses are a thing of the past and payrises are few and far between and pitiful when they do arrive. Strong disconnect between head office board-level management and the local management at each office. I feel like a disposable commodity.

    Advice to Management

Find out what staff really want and consider how to give proper incentives, which are appropriate for targets. Give people a path to progress within the company and give appropriate payrises, so that people don't have to leave just to make a career and get a sensible salary.

I worked at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

If your soul hasn't been completely destroyed, you may manage to share a laugh with your colleagues. Employees are mostly good hardworking people, free coffee,

    Cons

You will be underpaid and overworked, you will work hard with your team to hit your targets....but there will be no bonus and usually very little incentives to achieve targets, which often seem unattainable. The computer system will crash on a daily basis, hindering your progress and adding more stress to your day. Every year an employee survey is undertaken, year on year employee satisfaction has... deteriorated although employees suggestions are never taken into account....99% of the concerns are regarding pay, future prospects and job satisfaction yet Towergate do nothing, results in 2013 were even worse than 2012.

    Advice to Management

Pay people proper salaries, give realistic budgets with proper incentives, actually train your staff. Stop ruining the insurance industry, you are not a big company, give more respect to your employees and the insurers. Senior Management are obsessed with empire building, everyday Towergate seems to have acquired another broker or business, they need to take care of what they have got, look after their staff and... produce quality business.
