    Pros

    Company benefits Holiday entitlement

    Cons

Senior managers with a bad attitude Expect everything for nothing in return Work their staff into the ground - they leave No recognition to praise good performance Too much control, forgetting people are humans

    Advice to Management

Look after your staff effectively and perhaps they will want to work for you. They pay your wages!

    Pros

Work colleagues, hours, free tea and coffee

    Cons

Senior Management, pay, no progression opportunities

    Advice to Management

Listen to the staff... they're your eyes and ears. Some know it all from the AA thought she could turn the manchester office around... obviously she failed!

I have been working at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They've recently invested in new systems and phones.

    Cons

Senior Management are abysmal. Been here for 3 years and seen no one promoted from 'within', I have received nil to minimal training, the staff 'appraisals' are a waste of time. My team leader is a bully. I know of at least 4 members of staff leaving due to this person and the senior management are oblivious as they never care to...

    Advice to Management

There are talented people who could be encouraged and progressed within Towergate and help this business grow but you overlook them all. Try and manage, try and be present.

    I worked at Towergate Insurance

    Pros

The people at the bottom work incredibly hard under a lot of pressure and really work together as a team.

    Cons

Senior Management are only interested in themselves, no room for progression, you will never be listened to and if what you have suggested is good they will take credit for it.

    Advice to Management

Get of your high horses, listen to your employees & remember where you came from.

I have been working at Towergate Insurance

    Pros

The staff on the front end do their best to offer a good service, and they do seem to want to help, the issue is whether they can actually help, but the good intent usually seem like it does not translate to getting the service you need delivered.

    Cons

Feedback is not taken up by senior management as a tool for self improvement. Negative feedback that may be received is seen as combative and brushed off as irrelevant.

    Advice to Management

Please pay attention to feedback and complaints you may receive . Only lending an ear to those close in senior management shall only be playing to your tune, and not necessarily reflective on staff and customer experiences. Those closest in senior management might be looking to mask their own shortcomings.

I have been working at Towergate Insurance for more than a year

    Pros

Paid on time 26 days holiday

    Cons

Salary much less (£5-10k) than market rate. Staff turnover is ridiculous - most people leave within 1 year, and company is known as a revolving door. Severe restrictions on when you can take leave each month. Very poor work-life balance - expected that you work extra hours unpaid HR is non-existent. The only time you meet them is when you're up for redundancy. No induction training when you join. You're...

    Advice to Management

Stop spending £millions poaching (and compensating) senior managers from rival firms. Sort out your IT infrastructure NOW - not in 2 years' time. When staff say that deadlines are unrealistic, listen to them. Don't just insist on even tighter deadlines. Value your staff more than just those in the sales part of the business. A lot of support staff work very hard to produce the reports you rely on, yet get ABSOLUTELY...

I worked at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great colleagues (great bonds form as you deal with the insanity daily). Very accessible location, lots of great places to eat at lunch. Paid on time (excluding over time, pay is dependent on memory and there is no guarantee the amount will be right, not a COMMON problem but occurs too often). There are people (inc a handful of management- maybe a few fingers), who really are trying to make the best out of a bad situation....

    Cons

Shocking staff turnover (including management). A company where improvement suggestions are branded as 'being negative'. YET THEY EXPECT GROWTH? (honestly ludicrous). Negative is the buzz word for Leadership. Reply 'negative' to suggestions and do nothing to improve but expect things to some how function effectively? It is as if they become offended when you identify a flaw and offer some solutions. Get the job done,...

    Advice to Management

Leadership is not a TITLE it is a service. Review the people in place of leadership, why are they leading people itching to get out? Encourage the ppl who sit there day in day out to offer their observations and ideas of how to make it better. These people are the eyes of the company! When more than one person repeats the same thing, there is usually some truth in it. How many more LOSSES (man power, market reputation,...

    Pros

Will support you financially through CII qualifications, lovely colleagues & middle management do seem to actually care about you.

    Cons

Senior management do not give a toss, you are just a number. Bad business strategy, the SBU and Finance changes should not have been done at the same time, and certainly not before we had a universal IT system. Trying to centralise business and people when we work on 100+ IT platforms is a ridiculous notion. The change team are the only happy people in this company. No incentive...

    Advice to Management

Learn to value people. Reintroduce an incentive scheme. Sort the IT systems out. Improve relationship with the press. Redistribute people more effectively between offices in the event of relocation. Get your heads out of the clouds, open your eyes and look around at what you have done to morale in this past year.

I have been working at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people at ground level - I honestly wouldn't still be working here if it wasn't for my colleagues. At ground level the staff are great - hard-working, dedicated, loyal and cheerful in the face of adversity. There is an awful lot of talent at Towergate, most of which is sadly wasted and overlooked.

    Cons

    - Management, particularly the endless layers of middle management. Seriously, how many area/regional managers are needed in one branch? Almost every manager at my branch has area or regional in their title. So many are called 'directors' yet ultimately we have been satnav'd into a dead end. - Compliance. I know compliance is necessary, but Towergate go way over the top. Audits mainly consist of checking whether forms...

Your colleagues are the only pro.

    Cons

Senior Management? - they don't listen. Floating on the stock market? - yeah when hell freezes over! Pay rise/Bonus for hardworking "shop floor staff"? - don't make me laugh. Staff surveys? - Why bother with them - you NEVER listen to what the staff have to say and being bullied into completing them does not help. Have Fun? Not any more. WAKE UP! This was once a good company to work for, but not any more. You have lost so many valuable employees to your now former CEO's vision. Stop the rot before its too late. YOU ARE A LAUGHING STOCK.
