I have been working at Trafigura full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Fast paced environment, very smart colleagues, good work/life balance, very good package, company culture very open to innovation and personal initiative

    Cons

Compensation is very good, but can vary quite a bit depending the market conditions, which might not be suitable for people who want a very stable and predictable income.

    Advice to Management

Don't let growth push you to become too process-oriented.

      I worked at Trafigura full-time

      Pros

Freedom to innovate and to grow professionally outside of boundaries of your day to day job. Very good financial compensation if you meet the standard and are willing to work the hours and go the extra mile.

      Cons

Understaffed in many areas, long working days. Very aggressive approach to management.

I worked at Trafigura full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Huge potential globally, can travel, great people, decent salaries.

      Cons

IT is completely different from the rest of the company. The management comes from banking and brimgs with it all the problems and work culture banking IT has: slow, no decisions taken when they should, opaque processes, "the blame game", constant change of direction aimed to preserve jobs as long as possible, etc. There are top managers that don't deliver (and have not for years) but they are agile politicians and manage...

      Advice to Management

Fire the IT management, starting from the TOP, hire people (not consultants) from real software development companies with a proven track record. Keep the structure flat. Build SMALL teams of CAPABLE developers. Use real performance metrics from this field and not subjective ones. Once Titan works well, spin off IT development into new legal entity and sell the platform to other trading firms (this means the development...

          I worked at Trafigura

          Pros

In the earlier years it felt like being part of a team with a common goal.

          Cons

In the latter years it became a back stabbing, passing the buck, decision dodging, 2 faced environment...

          Advice to Management

Should know better than to be lured into strategies (especially the most recent IT one - how many $m down the drain?) that will never come to fruition
