If you don't like working in autonomous teams you won't like it here

I have been working at TransferWise full-time for more than a year

      Pros

I am constantly amazed by how nice it is to work for TransferWise. They really believe in treating their employees with respect and dignity--for instance we get 28 paid holiday days a year, and it is strongly encouraged that we take a 2 week consecutive break and also a 1 week break. They have cereal and porridge and fruit every single morning for free to eat. If you work the night shift they pay for a taxi, both ways....

      Cons

Open floor plan, no cubicles, so it gets quite loud when there are a lot of people on the phones. It can be quite daunting having a horizontal structure to the company-- so as a newbie it is kind of hard to know exactly what to do when, but that lack of structure is also very liberating once you get used to it. we're also open 24/7 so you do have to work nights and weekends on occasion, and the schedules change on a monthly...

      Advice to Management

It's all very daunting when you start, so even just having set amounts of things to have accomplished by a certain time would be nice. The freedom we get here is amazing, but as a newbie it is easy to become overwhelmed and not really know where to go/what to do when. I'm getting there though!

I worked at TransferWise for more than 2 years

      Pros

Mostly cool coworkers Offices look nice Chance to travel -Medical benefits we're great - most have a good work life balance but those that don't work way too much and end up burnt out quickly

      Cons

-As CS if you're not promoted within 3 months you're likely stuck with that position until you leave. -Higher ups have a tendency to promote new hires (as little as one month old!) to team lead. -Processes aren't fully fleshed out in some areas, and any attempt to improve that is met with "this is how we've always done it" - you're dealing with people's money, they WILL get mad at you. it's an obvious for CS but...

      Advice to Management

Trust your team!time and time again, someone who has no idea what all their job entails was put to lead a team. Don't get stuck in the "it's how we've always done it" circle. What worked for 100 employees probably won't work for 1000 plus.

I have been working at TransferWise full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Autonomous company, independent work, opportunities for switching positions and gaining further insight into different teams, great colleagues, awesome company values, transparency, feedback culture

      Cons

Due to autonomous culture, it can be difficult to track down the 'owners' of a feature in order to troubleshoot/provide feedback

I have been working at TransferWise full-time for more than a year

      Pros

It's honestly has been the best experience of my career life. From start to finish it's been a challenge to what I've always known. This place encourages you to be yourself; this act than allows you to be open to the process that will lead you to success. Yes the perks are amazing, but it's the culture it's the people that make the experience that make it more than just a call center. It's a family. (plus dogs in...

      Cons

It's sound crazy but there is no negative. The "newbie" process is slow and concise there is no throwing you to the wolves persay. They set you up for success not failure

I have been working at TransferWise for more than 2 years

      Pros

Cool offices and amazing people from almost 60 countries which makes it very international. Opportunity to learn a lot while working, most especially when you are part of projects where you figure out the how of the execution. No boss and subordinate mentality. Great work life balance and other benefits

      Cons

Haven been there for a year, the major downside I have seen is the loss of talent which brings a lot of pressure to those working to deliver before new recruits arrive. If you like to be supervised to get your work done, then this is not a job for you.

      Advice to Management

You are doing a great job by steadily growing the company. An upward review of salary will do a lot of good, most especially to retain top talents.
