I have been working at TransferWise full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

I think our culture is pretty unique in the sense that I can choose to work from home whenever I want and naturally we have problems but from what I’ve seen people air those problems out and we are pretty good at addressing them head on. I also like that I can push whatever projects I want & generally people don’t even question me on it - not that questions are a bad thing. Fairly generous travel policy to compensate...

    Cons

Base salaries are below market for engineers - but I’ve heard the People team are looking to address this. Career development is a black box - again I heard that the People team are looking to address this aswell.

    Advice to Management

Please don’t listen to complaints from people about not being active as management. The hands-off approach is better for the long-term and forces compromises between teams.

I have been working at TransferWise full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    - great culture - exceptionally smart yet humble people to learn from - ability to make your own decisions and own it - freedom to work from home (but of course don't abuse it) - many growth opportunities

    Cons

    - team can be in a separate country so miscommunication happens at times

I have been working at TransferWise full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

This is a very unique company. For the first time in my life I don't dread going to work. What you will NOT deal with: uncomfortable dress codes, awkward elevator talk, Monday blues, pointless meetings about future meetings, sales targets, micromanagement. What you WILL deal with: - Autonomy and creativity - An all expenses paid company holiday in Europe - Free team lunch once a week - A kitchen always...

    Cons

    - Formal training is non-existent - you will be on the phones knowing very little and need to find answers yourself. - Hiring process is extremely long and tiresome. Be patient. - Loud, aggressive leftist politics. If you have any slightly conservative viewpoints, better to keep quiet. - Rapidly changing, not a bad thing but it's almost impossible to keep up with. There's no time to review it all when you have...

    Advice to Management

Raise the company minimum wage to $15 and up, even if you have to cut budget elsewhere. CS is paid a bit too low. Also, implement a more formal training regimen.

I have been working at TransferWise full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very flexible hours Extremely helpful colleagues Excellent team leads No micro-management (you are autonomous in your job, yet you are given productive feedback to improve) Not a call centre job (only a few hours on phones per day, not everyday) Opportunity to work from home from time to time Opportunity to visit other offices in other countries Flat hierarchy, meaning that the CEO could sit next to you and ask...

    Cons

Some people could be uncomfortable with such an informal working environment It is required to be friendly and open to socialise at all times, it can be a con for people who are introverted or do not enjoy making friends at work

    Advice to Management

    Nothing in particular
