I hate the airline industry these days. Everyone books over capacity with no equipment if there is a breakdown. Travelers can get stranded for days by a simple wind event. Airlines cram everyone to capacity (and beyond). If the travel time is 6 hours or less I would rather drive or even train if there were better train options. But really what are the alternatives beyond WFH? I would almost rather take an apartment in the city I am working in but have other family members to consider.

      Poor corporate culture

      Pros

      - Average benefits - Big American corporate in UK - Redhill office - Risk appetite you can work with - Quality underwriting

      Cons

      - Operations senior leadership team have had high staff turnover. Lost a few key figure heads recently. Things look shakey at the top of ops. - Many stale individuals in senior management roles. These are people who've been in the company a long time and are blinkered and somewhat institutionalised, resistant to change, unaware how the modern competitor works, stuck in the mud with their current methodology, and untrained in modern management styles and techniques. The type of person who thinks they know best and looks down on their juniors and snubs them for daring to suggest something can be done differently. Not enough chance for us junior staff to suggest thing to those leading change within the company. - People management in all uk locations, tendancy for micro management across the departments, managers who can be trivial and petty, and punative to their teams, managers who blame the team for not hitting their targets/goals/objectives instead of looking at themselves and how their management technique and style, and lack of support for junior staff could be (is) to blame for their teams poor results. - HR who follow protocol with no autonomous thought. Heard of colleagues having bad experiences with unsupportive hr. - makes surface level nods to D&I (e.g. a presentation) rather than promoting up the ranks those from diverse backgrounds. - No real LGBTQ+ benefit policies, everything set up for cis hetro couples.
