I worked at Travelport full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I worked with lots of people who had broad technical and industry knowledge and who were more than willing to help others.

    Cons

The company outsourced a large part of the technical team and lost a lot of technical expertise and experience when they laid off a substantial portion of their tech team.

I have been working at Travelport full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Leadership have a strong vision for the future and are very open in communicating it to staff at all levels. Lots of financial investment into systems, products and people. The people 'on the ground' are all really friendly and welcoming, I quickly felt part of the team there. Business has a good work life balance, with the right systems in place to support flexible working. Positive investment in learning and development and a lot of experienced people that you can learn from in the business. The marketing function itself is really driven and interested in trying out new channels, your voice is heard and you're given the bandwidth to be independent. Office environment is also very nice, with great staff facilities.

    Cons

The business is evolving, but leadership have a clear vision for the future and the skills to cascade it with a strong plan - so as long as you are comfortable coming into a business with lots of positive change then it's the right place for you.

I worked at Travelport full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Some absolutely lovely people. Fascinating industry. Opportunities to work with colleagues and customers from across the world. Some pockets of excellence - for example the products designed and built in Dublin for customers such as EasyJet and BCD.

    Cons

Really badly positioned for the future - Travelport is the #3 GDS and has a declining share of airline bookings. It hasn't really figured out a business model shift for the rise of low cost carriers and the rise of NDC. It also runs three GDS's (Galileo, Apollo and Worldspan) which means it is more complex than Sabre and Amadeus. Finally and more worryingly.. the business has turned inward and there are a lot of guns pointed at each other from the various members of the senior leadership team who don't really operate as a team - the pain from this cascades down quickly.

I have been working at Travelport full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Old management team has largely left the business finally getting focus on what the company is about New president and management team is focused on change

    Cons

Still takes forever for decisions to be made and communicated Internal roles are often filled without formal process or communication most of the company is still moving at a pre-change pace and has no accountability.

I worked at Travelport full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Work from home. Benefits are ok, plenty of parking.

    Cons

Negative environment, no organisation within teams. No processes no one knows what they are doing. If your face fits then your safe if it doesn’t no matter what you do you will never be supported by the team. Managers only out for themselves they don’t care about staff.

I have been working at Travelport full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It’s a company undergoing enormous change so if you also think that’s a ‘pro’ rather than a ‘con’ it’s a rewarding place to work. That change has some great foundations – a customer base that’s stable, solid financials, and employees who are loyal and really care about the company. Generally speaking – but of course depending on the function you work in – there is opportunity to grow your career because of, rather than despite, the transformation taking place. Culturally, I find it a friendly and supportive environment and relatively apolitical (viewed from the experience of having worked in a number of global companies).

    Cons

Company-wide change inevitably causes disruption and that can make working life tough . Not all areas of the business are changing at the same speed and that’s sometimes a challenge. Office locations are often out of town, reducing the social aspect of work which usually accompanies city centre locations.

    Pros

Fantastic working environment where your team feels like your family

    Cons

Too many chances that do not necessarily reflect what the customers need Management does not listen to employees on the front lines Too many "pilots" that end up in nothing Lack of consistency Internal systems are incredibly outdated, they delay absolutely everything

    Pros

Being recently acquired, the new owners are focusing on turning the company around

    Cons

Years of neglect, outdated platforms, and no process makes it a very difficult place to navigate and work with
