I have been working at TripAdvisor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Company offers great benefit packages
    -Well being reimbursement
    -Travel reimbursement
    -Dental care
    -Private health insurance (amazing support)
    -Oxford free breakfast
-Variety of cooked lunch options (not free but very affordable price)

Also, TripAdvisor is well respected company globally and leading the industry in many ways. When becoming part of the company, you will soon realize you have never worked in such environment before. Company is widely open to any suggestions from any employee which makes you feel valuable.

Most managers and the HR department is priceless to work with. Very friendly and most supportive I ever worked with. Massive thank you!

    Cons

Career development needs improvement but this is a matter in most companies. Just needing a faster recognition progress in promoting people to become perfect. This may also relates to the manager of the department rather than company's process. Besides this, no one can compete TripAdvisor in terms of valuing their employee.

    Advice to Management

Management, please avoid making personal decisions. Remember you are hired to prioritize company's benefits not to please your favorite people.

Hope to see some improvement in this area soon...

    Pros

Global Company gives you access to different languages, countries and individuals. Very diverse working environment.
Amazing Benefits that cannot be found elsewhere.
A lovely and friendly working environment

    Cons

Can be considered US central, with not all perks being available to the other smaller offices around the globe. Can be very fast pace as well as a little overwhelming to start with, however everyone does help with this transition

    Advice to Management

Keep doing quarterly and yearly reviews, focus on developing your team instead of the negative aspects.

    Cons

    - Hard to progress within your department
    - Even harder to move to other departments
    - Repetitive work unless you speak different languages

    I worked at TripAdvisor full-time

    Pros

Colleagues, environment, perks, office space, parking and the occasional staff party. Good for the short term or as a stop gap.

    Cons

It completely lost it's culture due to Senior Management not listening and lacking compassion. Autonomy and decision making comes from the US. Lack of development and career progression.

    Advice to Management

The bean counters need to listen to their employees more, then they won't have such high staff turnover and create such a toxic environment.

I worked at TripAdvisor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The office is centrally located, commuting is short but then I live close by. The guard downstairs is nice and the cleaners.

    Cons

The company is going the wrong way, they have tried to become a online travel agent with little success. It has resulted in no money for investment in staff and a creepy owl for the advert. The london off ie is closing down a floor, ‘ALARM BELLS’. Not doing well! Moral is low, it has hit rock bottom and been handed a shovel to dig deeper. The HQ are not interested in the offices outside if the US, promotions are possible as long as you are based in HQ. The company value if ‘we believe in transparency’ is the biggest load of rubbish. No one believes that the company adheres to this. They don’t tell you anything. It really is the worst company to work for, the won an award for the best place to work, you guessed it...in HQ! The ivory tower, the centre of the world, the centre of the universe!

    Advice to Management

I feel that horse have bolted

    Pros

You can meet some great people there... or not anymore because they all left.

    Cons

EMEA office fells like an outsourcing company that only cares about numbers and not about people. No room for growth unless you are a backstabber or you have no dignity.

I have been working at TripAdvisor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Good benefits package and plenty of useful amenities - free lunch twice a week
    - Dog friendly office which has been very popular with staff and makes for a great office environment
    - Stronger communication on key changes than before, something the company is learning to improve at
    - Great vibe and generally a good office, with good people

    Cons

    - London is not head office - this causes frustrations for some in terms of autonomy and where major decisions are made but there is a need to be realistic
    - Business is going through a period of change which can be a little difficult, but it is a necessary review of the structure of the teams that make up our business

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing in terms of communication. Let non-Needham staff get involved in decision making as much as possible.

I have been working at TripAdvisor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people - I have never worked with a nicer, smarter bunch of people. People care about each other, we have a laugh and we work hard. It's a great working environment.

Management that actually care - we have a London leadership team made up of the most senior people in the office and they really care about employee happiness. I also feel really supported by the management of my team.

I am proud of what I do - at TripAdvisor you are encouraged to take ownership of what you work on and it's a pretty flat structure across the business, which I enjoy.

There are great perks to working here - healthcare, dental, £850 towards fitness, free lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays, fun office events, thoughtful little gifts, rooftop terrace.

I work as part of a global team and I really feel like that. Although we work across the world, we have fortnightly meetings, help each other out and check in regularly.

    Cons

The career progression could be clearer, but management is aware of this and are working on better growth plans, I also don't think this is an issue specific to this company

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing :)

I worked at TripAdvisor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - People are lovely

    - London office is in a great location

    - It’s nice to work for a company which everyone knows and likes

    Cons

    - A real lack of ideas and innovation: the company hasn’t moved with the times and shows no sign of doing so

    - Takes a long time to get anything done as management will not make decisions for fear of upsetting those higher up

    - Extremely US-centric. London feels like an after thought rather than an integral part of the business. There’s an unspoken rule that to get anywhere in the company you need to move to HQ.

    Advice to Management

Shake things up, starting with the very top. Get people in who can bring new ideas and a fresh outlook. Admit your mistakes so you can take the company forward. Doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results is the very definition of madness.
