I worked at TripAdvisor as a contractor

    Pros

Great vibe, nice people, beautiful office.

    Cons

Immature management, didn't fully introduce the employee benefit for the contractor.

    Advice to Management

Shouldn't use unprofessional online tool to judge staff's performance. Shall adjust the strategic for different countries market.

"Nice perks and benefits, but in the subsidiary I worked for mid-level management a mess and no career progression."

    Pros

Perks were good, lovely offices, good benefits.

    Cons

Top-heavy management in the division where I worked (Independent Traveler) and insular decision making. Career progression was relatively nonexistent in my section (editorial).

    Advice to Management

    Good luck.

I have been working at TripAdvisor full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere - fun is encouraged and people are generally lovely. Wellness and travel reimbursements, free snacks and drinks, great summer and Christmas parties. Great to work for a company whose ideas you believe in. Management show appreciation to staff and work life balance is fair.

    Cons

Low wages, little to no career progression, HQ tend to be dictator-like and bulldoze ideas across the globe. Double standards throughout the company - HQ treat themselves to free lunch every day amongst other things which is not reflected in other offices. If you are not based in HQ you are seemingly thought of as a second class citizen. Budget cuts are very apparent of late and seem to be ramping up.

    Advice to Management

If you are not to take feedback on board during your visits to other offices, spread Management throughout the countries to truly become 'global' and ensure fairness to all staff. Start up mentality is no longer valid due to rapidly expanding business.

    Pros

Nice premises. Lively and colorful. Some of the people are amazing.

    Cons

Management is not present on premises. They work remotely from the USA. They ask you to be frank and open but when one does is out. Management works also based on personal simpathies rarher than objective facts. They invite you to leave the company without saying goodbyes to your fellow workers. Awful sensation. So much for humanity and wellness. They are all words and no substance whatsoever.....

    Advice to Management

Management should be present on premises working remotely is not sufficient. Management very full of themselves.

    Pros

Personal travel benefits, free drinks on Friday, bonus every 3 or 4 months, health and dentist insurance

The new employees who start one year after you always will be paid more than you. Loyalty to the company and quality at work are not considered. Very difficult to be promoted
