I have been working at Tripp Lite full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Like most things in life, you only get out what you put in. Tripp Lite gives you all the on-the-job training, support, and direction needed to start or continue a successful career for one of Chicago's largest privately held companies. One of the best ways to know employee satisfaction with a company is tenure. Tripp Lite has multiple employees who have been there 30, 35, 45+ years (there is a running joke that anyone under 10 years tenure is still considered a 'newbie').
When I first started at Tripp Lite I was immediately treated like a member of my team. My manager has given me all the tools necessary to tackle the steep learning curve required to be an SME in over 4500 different products while also giving me the leeway to discover my own unique voice. I have a great relationship with many of my coworkers who have become friends outside of work.
In the relatively short time I've been at Tripp Lite, I have been trusted with more & more responsibilities which has led to opportunities for career development and growth. Work life balance is amazing; when you are there you will be expected to work your tail off (we have consistent year-over-year growth for a reason) but as soon as you walk out those doors you aren't expected to even think about work until the next business day.
Tripp Lite has some issues like every company does, but if you are willing to put in the work and genuinely care about your role at the company there is no limit to how far you can go.

    Cons

*401K match (or lack thereof) could be improved * Too much red tape for approvals on internal processes which can negatively affect business * Still a high reliance on paper-based processes. We need to move fully forward into the digital landscape

I worked at Tripp Lite full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good work life balance Lots of perks for corporate based employees Great Health Benefits Strong customer following

    Cons

Private company that is way to conservative when it comes to investing to grow business Archaic processes for travel, everything is still done via printed memos that require layers of signatures Hire smart people and then tell them what to do instead of allowing the employees to run their business as needed Sales Departments are silo'd and compete against one another. Not uncommon for someone from another sales department to sell into your target accounts and get paid for it while you are left trying to justify why that's not fair and the sale should be credited to you instead.

I have been working at Tripp Lite full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Tripp Lite has a casual environment yet is full of people who are serious about their jobs. Many employees stick around their whole career- talent is generally recognized and rewarded. Work-life balance is as good as it gets. Room for advancement or movement within the company. Company has grown every year since employed.

    Cons

Lack of 401k match. Can be behind on embracing technology at times.

I have been working at Tripp Lite full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great Work Life Balance! Tripp Lite recognizes that people make the organization and keeping employees happy and healthy helps to improve the bottom line, keeps you motivated and makes it easy to come to work. Even when you have to work a few extra hours the fun activities throughout the year sponsored by the wellness committee help to keep your stress at a minimum and your outlook positive. I’m sure this has helped to drive the last few record years! Management is open to ideas and supportive to foster new initiatives. This company is growing and the management team understands this growth is a collaborative effort and takes the time to recognize ALL employees. I’m glad to be part of this success.

    Cons

    Improve 401K match and options.

I have been working at Tripp Lite

    Pros

A good work life balance culture. Open door policy on communication where everyone is approachable and decisions can be made quickly. Credible products and reputation in the marketplace. Very tenured employee base which is a favorable reflection of the company. Strong feeling of community in the workplace.

    Cons

The sales commission plan needs and overhaul. It penalizes as well as rewards. Business units are siloes which creates negative competition internally. Archaic thinking toward flex schedules, "work at home" policies.
