I have been working at UNC Chapel Hill full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some pros include generous vacation/sick time/ holidays, flexible hours (depending on supervisor), benefits (health insurance, dental insurance), and a generally nice working environment.

    Cons

The biggest con is the salary range. This is lower compared to private companies which is to be expected, and is not that bad when considering the other pros.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice to have more proactive/preventative health measures available for employees. examples would be options to have standing desks, incentives to exercise and eat healthier food options, etc.

I worked at UNC Chapel Hill full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent coworkers, good work life balance, Good working environments

    Cons

had to pay for parking, few hours, little communication between self and management

    Advice to Management

We had quarterly meetings but there were never any expectations set. Management is spread too thin to be able to do their job and actually manage the people under them. Delegate more work to support and manage don't just assign random tasks to keep people busy. You have to find people's strengths and weaknesses in order to make your department succeed.

I have been working at UNC Chapel Hill full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great college town, lots of opportunity to succeed, very few to fail

    Cons

It is almost impossible to get anything done here because of the bureaucracy. I once waited 6 months, and burned over $30,000, waiting on a laptop that the school would not approve because it didn't come from an "approved vendor" (I needed a special laptop with a GPU). The laptop cost $2000.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, not a ton you can do because the school is controlled by the Board of Educators and the NC legislature. Maybe go private, if possible?
