Strong benefits and job security, but tough to advance

Pros

Benefits and Job security are very strong. Transparent path of pay growth. Work is fairly straightforward, and when done well can make an actual difference in people’s lives.

Cons

Getting hired in general is difficult, and getting into management is more so. I was not a fan of the overall agency social culture.

Federal Employment in the Trump Era - 0/10

Pros

Decent insurance benefits, Thrift Savings Program (TSP), work-life balance is pretty good.

Cons

Zero flexibility in scheduling. Unable to work from home in any capacity. Low salaries. Expected to do more with less (FSA lost 20% of its workforce in 2025). Constant changes from federal level that make no sense in practicality on the county level.
