      Pros

Positive outlook for travel and growth. Strategic decisions to grow by over 400 aircraft means there should be lots of opportunity.

      Cons

Corporate Support Center employees are always forgotten or purposefully left out of incentives because they are not union-represented. All the time and attention of management goes towards making front-line pilots, flight attendants, and technicians happy. Upward movement is difficult since the majority of roles are already predetermined before the position is officially posted. Internally, hiring managers will offer a "courtesy interview" just to make people feel like they have a chance. Reorganizations are common every 12 to 18 months. Find somewhere that isn't too visible, but still adds value. When a re-org happens, expect that 75% will impact upper management and 25% will impact individual contributor roles.

      Pros

Great teamwork and culture within many of the working teams. You can move around to different teams when you want to try something new. 401k Matching is good and they give you the ability to have a self-directed 401k.

      Cons

This is no longer an airline...it's a social justice warrior company which happens to own some planes. CEO Scott Kirby has done the impossible...he made us wish that Jeff Smisek was back as CEO. Kirby has wasted all the good will and unity that former CEO Oscar Muniz has built up. Executive management lives in a Chicago bubble...they don't reflect the values of their employees. United loves diversity of all kinds...except for diversity of thought...especially for their upper management. They are constantly bombarding employees with their SJW nonsense...a big turn off for most employees. Sometimes they value diversity so much that it's considered over actual abilities, skill and passion. I've seen a couple teams pretty much destroyed after diversity hires took over them.. United lost so much IT talent since Covid started that it's not even funny. If you look at the make-up of IT teams, you'll see most teams are now 50-95% contractors...most which are here on visa. Many full time employees don't want to stay & others are forced out. The IT market is too good to put up with being a United employee. Their PTO plan is horrible. You start out with only 2 weeks vacation and it doesn't increase until after 5 years. Their bonus structure has recently changed for the much worse. The company is in a ridiculous amount of debt, so I don't see this changing anytime soon. The flight benefits are not worth it for most people. I'd rather have the 20%+ more in salary. Also, United is far too dependent on their excellent PR team that hides all the companies massive shortcomings. If you only knew…

      Pros

Flight benefits was the only thing good about United but standby can be annoying depending when you decide to travel

      Cons

Managers and supervisors can be very unprofessional and have no knowledge in what they are doing . Favoritism throughout the company , doesn’t matter how good of an employee you are you still won’t grow within this company unless you are friends with management . They don’t care about your mental health here and will write you up for any little thing even if you are sick you will get a point for it . Pay is very low and you will not get any type of raise here . You could’ve been here for years and still get paid the same as someone who just started . You will not have a life outside of United at all . Very draining and depressing. I would not recommend . Money hungry company who overworks their employees and does not appreciate nor care for the employees . Oh and if you are a minority be prepared to get treated low . During covid they did not follow protocols to keep employees safe . They waited last minute to follow ppe. So many employees passed away due to covid and none of the upper management cared or even acknowledged it . Sick sick . I’ve been so happy since I’ve left this hellhole and am blessed to have finally started a great career for myself .

Favoritism, harassment, and the worst corporate corruption you could imagine

      Pros

Decent pay, good benefits, free flights, and it is a large company so potentially you can move up.. if you know someone that is.

      Cons

Hostile and toxic work environment. Extremely incompetent upper management. The bosses know little about the work their direct reports do, but act as though they are superior to everyone. You are often required to work additional hours at short notice and without options. The office environment itself is like a TV show. Lots of romantic relationships going on in secret, which will have an impact on who is selected for new roles or recognitions. It seems the best employees will be held to account for the smallest mistakes, while the people who regularly under perform will be coddled and their incompetence will be ignored.

Good compensation, benefits and perk. The company is finally caring about climate change and making it a great company to work for.

      Cons

There are favoritisms with the upper management and no matter how hard you work. From my experience. You are still overlooked especially being a woman of color.
