    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at United Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Close to San Diego. Bay views from the office building.

    Cons

Experienced employees are undervalued and underutilized. Engineering professionals are treated like children - a green dot next to your name on the wall if you're on schedule, a red dot if you're behind, just like kindergarten.

    No Opinion of CEO

    I worked at United Technologies

    Pros

UTC still has one of the best overall benefits packages even though the educational assistance program was recently and drastically downsized. There are still great incentives for pursuing higher education and the company's internal training program is world class. There is also good opportunity for experiencing different products and businesses among its many divisions if you're flexible enough. You will work with some of the most intelligent professionals around in nearly every job function and level.

    Cons

Nepotism is the norm in recognition and advancement so if you are not related to, or life long friends with an executive "in the loop" promotional opportunities will be limited. You will still find exciting, leading edge technology here but everything is driven by shareholder profit and the associated executive salaries. The investments in long term technology advancement, product performance, and sense of community responsibility the company was long known for are now clearly secondary to cost reduction and share price priorities.
