I have been working at United Utilities full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Healthcare scheme, bonus, good holiday entitlement.

    Cons

Vacant roles not backfilled and employees being put on to do more and more work. Pension scheme not as good as it used to be. Very strict sickness policy which can also be very unfair. No career progression as roles are not backfilled or salary is not as good as can get outside of UU

I have been working at United Utilities full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Nice offices, flexible working, free parking (head office), good on-site facilities, close to motorway network and shopping. Some great people (but don't be fooled by smiling assassins).

    Cons

Poor pension scheme, poor pay compared to other industries, little to no career progression, sense of elitism and old boys network. I could go on but I'd be here all day writing this. My advice to anyone considering working for UU would be don't get sucked into the politics and use it as a stepping stone for moving on to better, brighter and more exciting things!

I worked at United Utilities full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good overall company to work for. The company values its workforce and does well to look after each employees health and well-being with good benefits and work place initiatives. The head office facilities were very good.

    Cons

The career progression was non-existent and would be reliant on somebody leaving or changing roles. Whilst working flexibly and remotely was available this would be dependent on department and individual management styles. There isn’t much of a social side outside of the office, most likely due to the location and most people commuting by car.

    I worked at United Utilities

    Pros

    - Great working environment and career progression opportunities - Very supportive senior management and leadership - large organisation so lots of different roles

    Cons

    - At times slow-paced and tend to revisit decisions too many times. - Change is progressive, but suffers from long periods of gestation
