I have been working at University of Cambridge full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

the system of colleges is great to get to evolve in 2 different circles (the department where you have your classes and your college)

    Cons

in the undergrad level, lack of group work. this is however not the case at the postgrad level, especially at the business school where you get to work a lot in groups

    Advice to Management

it would be good to create a career services especially for the business school - even if the general career service is very performant and experienced

I have been working at University of Cambridge full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic University with excellent career prospects. Teaching is very reliant on self-study but the standard is extremely high. Probably reputationally the strongest university in the UK

    Cons

The facilities are extremely old and require updating. The teaching is mixed; sometimes the standard is very high but frequently the lessons are not up to scratch. The cost of postgraduate degrees is also very high.

    Advice to Management

Update the facilities where possible (obviously this is tricky because the university is so old). Review staff who are not performing and replace where necessary

    Pros

Good place to work and study. The environment is perfectly wonderful. People are nice. The city is small, therefore commuting is convenient. Overall prices are almost as expensive as those in London.

    Cons

You will be surrounded by briliant people.

I worked at University of Cambridge full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall greatly recommended. It has been beneficial for my life and career to do my PhD at the University of Cambridge. The biggest pros are: access to world class scholars and some of the brightest minds as well as to lots of resources (financial, equipment, collaborations, seminars, etc.).

    Cons

Some of the biggest cons are: the extremely competitive environment driving most people to work hard and for long hours (evenings, weekends) with few breaks. This can be very stressful and you might feel like your quality of life has temporarily decreased despite the world class environment you find yourself in.

    Pros

Intelligent people everywhere. This helps students to thrive in a fast paced environment. I enjoyed my time there. Apply today.

    Cons

Pressure can be tough sometimes, but that is about it. Departments can vary a lot too so make sure you do your homework before applying.
