I have been working at University of Cambridge full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's one of the world's best universities, working here is very special and will always look good on your CV. Excellent pool of co-workers from all over the world. Great facilities.

    Cons

Really expensive to live in the city. Long work hours, most people work excess of 50 hours per week.

    Pros

The atmosphere is great, and the university offers many additional services such as career development and commercialization advice. Also location is Cambridge of course.

    Cons

Many times these are fixed period jobs, making you feeling insecure (as always in academia). The pay is low, especially compared to relevant industrial alternative when available, and the cost of living in Cambridge if you happen to have a family.

    Advice to Management

Increase salary (obviously not that simple to do) or find other ways to help postdocs with families.

I have been working at University of Cambridge full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Cambridge has an interesting research atmosphere. The city is great to live in, small, can cycle everywhere lots of offers in terms of activity.

    Cons

Very bureaucratic, every department is doing their own thing difficult to collaborate sometimes unless you have a personal contact.
