I have been working at University of Cambridge part-time

    Pros

There is lots of interesting work going on in Cambridge and it is great to be a part of it. My employers are very supportive of flexible working and I have a good work life balance.

    Cons

The University has a horribly complex structure and feels very siloed which can make it hard to achieve any real change. Some academics are arrogant and think they are better than everyone else which is unpleasant. The cost of living in Cambridge is not reflected in the wages.

    Cons

Everyone (including supervisors) are always busy, or travelling or both. It's a high pressured environment which doesn't allow for good work-life balance.
