    Positive Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at University of Cambridge full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good colleagues, interesting project, good working environment, opportunity to be 'at the top of your field'

    Cons

A lack of caring. My mum was an RA in the 50s and said if she'd fallen in a heap they'd have just stepped over her. Nothing's changed. The PI is an autocrat and you may have no say, even if you come with a lot of experience. This is University policy. This is known to be demoralising management. There was also a meanness, all decisions were made for promoting the PI at the expense of the RA. If something happens to... you that makes you vulnerable, this can be extremely damaging.

    Advice to Management

At PI level, learn the basics of management, and care a bit more about the people under you. To The University, don't give PIs a free reign to treat their subordinates however they like.
